About This Pub

Oh, what a lovely find Lawrance’s Pie, Mash & Liquor is – it's got that authentic, homely feel where the food steals the show with its exceptional taste and generous servings. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the pies are homemade and bursting with flavour, paired with perfect mash and that signature liquor that folks are raving about as the absolute best they've tried. The team there really goes the extra mile, treating visitors like old mates and even welcoming furry friends with a smile and a treat, which adds such a nice touch to the experience. But, fair's fair, it's not without its drawbacks; they're only open four days a week, so you have to plan around that, and without a website, it's a tad harder to get the lowdown quickly. Still, if you're in the area and fancy a hearty, feel-good meal, it's well worth seeking out – just keep in mind it might not be ideal for a spontaneous trip if you're not local. All in all, it's a solid spot that delivers on the good times, with that high rating speaking volumes about what they do right.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot-on – their pie, mash, and liquor is hands down the best I've heard of, with juicy pies and creamy mash that's just heavenly.
  • The service is so welcoming and friendly; they make you feel right at home, like you're part of the family, and they're even great with pets.
  • Portions are incredibly generous, so you won't leave hungry – plus, everything's homemade and packed with flavour.
  • It's a cosy spot that treats everyone with genuine warmth, making it a real treat for a casual get-together.
Cons
  • They're only open four days a week, which can be a bit of a nuisance if you're planning a mid-week visit or fancy popping in on a Sunday.
  • No website means it's tricky to check the latest details or menu online, so you might have to rely on word of mouth or a quick call.
  • The location isn't the most convenient for everyone; some folks wish they lived closer, as it's a bit out of the way for a regular haunt.

This is the very best pie, mash and liquor I've ever tasted and I wish I could eat here every day but I live too far for that. As a massively enthusiastic pie n mash fan, I've tried so many of the well established shops and their newer counterparts. Lawrance's IS THE BEST. It's unique - different and yet somehow superior to all others I've been to. All made on the premises so you won't taste this anywhere else. With very generous portions, clean, homely surroundings and free local parking - make it your favourite too!

Wish I could give it more stars the service is amazing and they treat you like family. The food is exceptional with juicy pies and beautiful mash in a puddle of the best liquor/gravy. They even welcomed my dog happily inside and gave him a sausage. Wish I lived closer so I could go every day.

Just an amazing place. They treat you like family and generous with their portion sizes. Best part is that they are just amazing people. Oh and try their desserts.

Absolutely delicious! I’d argue much better than the pie, mash and liquor I had whilst living east. Really friendly service. Will be back! Closed on Mondays, tuesdays and Sundays.

We visited this wonderful Pie, Mash and Liquor House on Saturday and had the best meal, with fantastic, friendly service. All of the pies are homemade, extremely tasty, and the portion sizes are very generous! Goodness knows how anyone manages a Triple-Triple, let alone a Double-Double! A MUST visit for any Pie and Mash lover. Well worth the journey from Oxfordshire, we can't wait to return!
