About This Pub

Ah, Lavin's Bar – it's one of those local spots that can really hit the spot for a relaxed evening with mates, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are top-notch, always ready with a smile and that extra effort to make sure you're having a good time, which makes it feel like a proper community hub. The atmosphere livens up nicely, especially on karaoke nights when everyone's joining in for a bit of craic, and the prices on drinks are fair enough that you won't feel the pinch after a couple of rounds. On the flip side, though, it's a bit of a mixed bag with the new management seemingly struggling to keep things in check – there've been tales of dodgy goings-on like fights and other nonsense that no one wants to deal with when they're out for a pint. Still, if you're up for giving it a go, it's worth popping in for the positives, just keep an eye out and choose your visits wisely to avoid any off nights. All in all, it's got that classic Irish pub warmth, but with a few rough edges that could use some smoothing out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, which really adds to the charm of the place.
  • It's got a lively and friendly atmosphere, perfect for a good laugh, especially on nights with karaoke where everyone's up for a singalong.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced, so you can enjoy a pint or a Guinness without it costing an arm and a leg – always a winner for a casual night out.
Cons
  • There have been some worrying reports about the new management not quite getting things right, with mentions of unsavoury activities like drug deals and fights that can spoil the vibe.
  • It might not always feel as safe or welcoming as it could, based on a few experiences that left people feeling let down and embarrassed to call it an Irish bar.

new management is ridiculous. Hasn't got a clue how to run a bar. Drug deals going on, fights outside. Absolutely disgusting. It's an embarrassment to call it an Irish bar. Stay well clear!!!

I moved into the area on the 17th of December. I must say that with a move in addition to Christmas was absolutely insane-and that this was my 1st time out in public, getting absolutely smashed to release the tension. Everyone was so nice and friendly-and Emma in particular made me feel so at ease and welcomed. This is now my new local.

Fabulous, friendly little bar, very good on prices, my friends were drinking ales at £2.80 a pint and I had Guinness for a fantastic £3.30 !!! Couldn't ask for more
