About This Pub
Ah, the Lamb & Lion in Bath – it's one of those pubs that feels like a reliable old mate, you know? I've got to say, what really stands out is how budget-friendly it is; you can grab a decent meal and a drink for not much at all, which is brilliant in a pricey spot like Bath. The staff are always chipping in with helpful advice, like letting you try a cider before you buy, and it's an absolute treat for sports fans with all those screens showing everything from the Premier League to rugby matches. Plus, that beer garden is a gem on a nice day, giving you a bit of outdoor space without straying too far from the city buzz. On the flip side, though, some of the food doesn't quite hit the mark every time – I remember having scampi that was tasty but a bit skimpy, and the chips were nothing to write home about. The inside can feel a touch chilly and the bathrooms aren't up to scratch, so it might not be the coziest spot for a long linger. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after good value and a laid-back vibe, but keep expectations realistic for the finer details – it's perfect for a quick stop with friends before heading out for more adventures in Bath.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The prices are spot on for Bath – you get a solid meal and a drink without breaking the bank, which is always a win when you're out for a casual pint.
-
Friendly bar staff who make you feel welcome, always up for a chat or helping you pick a drink, like sampling that strawberry cider before committing.
-
It's a top spot for catching live sports with big screens and plenty of plasmas, so whether it's footy or rugby, you're sorted.
-
They've got a lovely beer garden out back, perfect for a sunny afternoon or a relaxed evening with mates.
-
The food hits the spot for pub grub – things like scampi and burgers are tasty and come in good portions, plus they do a cracking Sunday roast.
-
Central location in Bath city centre, making it easy to pop in before or after an event, like a gig at the Forum.
Cons
-
Some of the food can be a bit hit or miss – like the chips being just okay or not getting a huge portion of scampi, which might leave you wanting more.
-
The atmosphere inside feels a tad cold and unwelcoming at times, and the bathrooms could do with a spruce-up to make the whole experience more enjoyable.
-
A few dishes don't quite stand out, such as the beef burger that had a hint of a dirty grill, so it's not always the most memorable meal.
-
While the service is friendly, it might not be the quickest if you're in a rush, especially during busy events.

I had scampi, chips and peas and a pint of Hobgoblin Gold. The chips were only OK, the scampi very nice but not much of it. I suspect it all came out of packets but the prices were very reasonable, especially for Bath (£12.49/£4.70).
The beer was good and the bar service friendly but the young woman who served my food practically slung it in front of me. Wordlessly.
A little noisy but a good option price-wise and it has big windows opposite a public garden so great for watching the world go by.
We stopped off before a gig at the Forum (this is a great location if you are going to an event there as only a five minute walk away) - not been here before but we will definitely go there again when we can.
We just wanted a no fuss kinda place that did good food without having to wait forever (cos of going to the Forum) - the barman was really friendly, a good laugh, and really made the visit a lot of fun. The food was well priced (it's Bath!) and turned up really quickly... And..... It was really good food. We all enjoyed it, and the atmosphere of the pub (sun was outside so we were in the beer garden as you can see) - highly recommended... Great food, great fun.... Thank you so much!! Cheers 🍻
Stopped by this pub because we loved the logo and was so happy with the food and service. Bartender was so helpful in explaining some of the drinks and letting me sample before committing to a delicious strawberry cider. The food was wonderful!
I gave atmosphere a lower score because the bathrooms definitely needed cleaned.
The inside is a little cold, the staff appropriately nice. The food was good, nothing too special, chicken burgers were delicious and good size but the beef burger had the taste of a dirty grill.
Plenty of seating ,lots of beer, wine & spirit selection , they show live sports and the food is really good , the staff are friendly and attentative and in my opinion it's the best bar in Bath
