About This Pub

Ah, the Grizzly Bear – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs that really grows on you once you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews and details, it's got this welcoming charm where the staff go out of their way to make you feel at ease, like you're part of the gang. The Sunday roasts sound absolutely brilliant, with folks raving about how they're cooked to perfection and served with a smile, reminding me of family dinners back home. Then there are the live music sessions and open mic nights that add a bit of excitement, turning an ordinary evening into something memorable. On the upside, the affordable prices mean you can pop in for a pint and a game of darts without breaking the bank, and the amenities like the pool table keep things entertaining for a laid-back hangout. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – some events, like that Cockney knees-up, apparently fell a bit flat with just playlists instead of live acts, which could leave you wanting more energy in the room. Plus, the opening times are a bit all over the place, so it's worth double-checking before you head out, as it might not be open when you fancy a visit. Overall, if you're after a reliable spot for good food, friendly chats, and the occasional singalong, Grizzly Bear is worth checking out, but temper your expectations for the bigger events to keep things balanced.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • Sunday roasts are spot on – hearty, home-cooked style meals that leave you properly satisfied.
  • Live music and open mic nights bring a lively buzz, perfect for a fun evening out.
  • It's got great amenities like a pool table and dart board, ideal for a casual game with friends.
  • Being inexpensive means you can enjoy a good night without worrying about the wallet.
Cons
  • The atmosphere can sometimes feel a bit flat, especially during certain events that don't quite live up to expectations.
  • Opening hours seem inconsistent and a tad unpredictable, which might disrupt your plans.
  • Not all music offerings are as varied or live as you'd hope – some are just playlists on a device.

Went for Chas & Dave Cockney knees up evening (with pie and mash). Food was a substantial portion. Music was OK, but would've been nice if had been a live artists or more varied music. We only really a play list on a device. Atmosphere was actually a bit flat for 'Cockney Knees Up' .....I appreciate management can only provide music/food, patrons need to create the atmosphere....
