About This Pub

Ah, the Kings Arms Hotel – it's one of those places that just warms your cockles with its genuine hospitality. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, Joan and Alan are the heart of the place, always on hand with a smile and a helping hand, whether you're settling in for a night or just dropping by for a drink. The rooms sound like a proper treat too, all clean and kitted out with little luxuries that make you feel right at home, perfect if you're after somewhere affordable for a longer visit. And let's not forget the pub side of things – a good pint of real ale, some hearty food, and even a game of pool to while away the evening. But, on the flip side, it's a shame the website's so basic; it doesn't give you much to go on, and without clear opening times or recent chatter, you might wonder if it's still buzzing as it used to be. Still, if you're in the area and fancy a spot with character and a personal touch, it's worth checking out – just pop in and see for yourself!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The owners, Joan and Alan, are absolute gems – they're super friendly and always go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, which really adds to the homely vibe.
  • The rooms are spotlessly clean and surprisingly well-equipped, with handy touches like a kitchen area, fridge, microwave, and even an iron, making stays feel comfortable and practical.
  • It's got a cracking atmosphere for a pint and a chat; you can enjoy a game of pool and a great selection of real ale, plus some tasty food options throughout the day.
  • Plenty of visitors rave about the value for money, especially for longer stays, with comfy beds and strong showers that make it a solid choice for a budget-friendly getaway.
Cons
  • The website is a bit of a letdown – it's sparse and doesn't offer much detail, which might leave you scratching your head when trying to find out more before visiting.
  • There's no info on operating hours, so it could be a faff to figure out when you can pop in, and that 'closed' status is a tad concerning – best to double-check before heading over.
  • With no recent reviews to speak of, it's hard to tell if things are still as tip-top as they were a few years back, which might mean the place has lost a bit of its sparkle lately.

I couldn't fault the room. Exactly what I needed. It exceeded my expectations for the price paid. Very clean and presentable, bed was comfy enough, and the shower had nice pressure. The room was equipped with a fridge, microwave, and iron. There was a TV but I didn't use it. The hosts were friendly and easy to get on with. Nice relaxing atmosphere in the bar also. I would definitely book again.

Pleasantly surprised by my stay at The Kings Arms. Joan, the landlady, is a gem. My room was a single, and came with a lovely little kitchen area with everything I needed, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster, along with cutlery, glasses, chopping board and teatowels. Plenty of storage, and a little cubby area with a rail, hangers and hooks. Very clean and tidy place. Despite being on top of a pub, I'm writing this on a Saturday night and cannot hear a thing from downstairs. As it's on a main road traffic noise is expected but for me it was fine. As a lone female I was especially pleased with the private entrance as it meant I didn't have to come and go via the pub. I felt very safe in my room. If I need to stay in Farnworth again for work I'd certainly come back here.

This was perfect for me. I came from the U.S. to visit the home town of my grandmother (Farnworth). The Hotel was within walking distance of the train station (a long walk, but still I managed it without trouble). It was also located near the street Grandma was born on. The room I had was pleasantly modern & clean - not quite what I expected from the building's outside appearance. A HUGE plus was the pub downstairs. I had thought they served food there, but they don't. However the staff set me up with some Chinese delivery, so all was well. I got to soak in the local color over a number of pints. I don't think they see too many Yankees because I was a bit of a curiosity to more than a few patrons. The biggest issue I had was the local accent. It was FAR different than what I encountered in London a 2.5 hour train ride away. Frankly, I couldn't understand much more than half the words uttered to me - but that's on me. Everyone was very nice & the staff was terrific. Some day I'll be back with my sister.
