About This Pub
Ah, the Kings Arms – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed get-together with mates. I love how it's tucked away in this peaceful spot near Oxford, with a beautiful riverside garden that's ideal for lazy afternoons watching the world float by on the Thames. The food's always a winner; whether it's the fresh mixed grill that cuts like butter or those classic fish and chips that folks rave about, everything's made with seasonal ingredients and served up with a smile from the team – shout out to the staff who make you feel genuinely welcome. It's moderately priced too, so you get bang for your buck without breaking the bank. On the flip side, though, parking's a minor pain; you've got to remember to punch in your reg details, or it could sour the end of your visit. Overall, it's a solid choice for a bite and a bevvy, especially if you're into that traditional pub vibe with a bit of community spirit, like their charity efforts with the new ale. I'd say it's worth a trip if you're in the area – just plan ahead for that parking lark!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The warm and welcoming atmosphere makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in, with friendly staff like the bearded chap behind the bar who always serves with a smile.
-
It's got a stunning location right by the river, complete with a lovely garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun and watching the boats go by.
-
The food is spot on – think quality pub classics like fish and chips or bangers and mash, plus seasonal specials that are fresh and full of flavour, all at a moderate price that feels like great value.
-
Service is top-notch; servers like Amina are helpful and make the experience even better, with a great atmosphere inside that's nicely decorated and cosy.
-
They're doing good things, like donating to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust with their new Golden Nectar ale, which adds a nice touch to enjoying a pint in the beer garden.
Cons
-
Parking can be a bit of a faff – you have to make sure to enter your registration into the screen, or you might end up with a hassle.
-
While the overall rating is solid at 4.1, it seems like the buzz is mostly positive from recent feedback, but if you're after something super unique or fancy, it might feel like a standard pub experience rather than anything groundbreaking.

We’ve been coming to this pub for years and it always delivers. Particularly the bearded guy behind the bar who was really pleasant and had a service with a smile.
By the river, nice garden and huge inside.
Just be careful of the parking and making sure you type your registration into the screen inside the pub.
Booked for a “halfway” family meal, never been before. What a gem of a find! The pub is beautiful with a stunning outside display of pots and baskets in full bloom. It’s right on Sandford Lock on the Thames so lovely to watch the boats.
We had a selection of meals and not a single moan from any of Our 8 strong party, quite a feat! The service was good and the prices reasonable. We will be back.
Great restaurant/pub on the river. One of the best fish & chips and bangers & mash that we have had on our trip. Beautiful venue. Definitely on the list to come back to.
Mixed grill was really lovely all fresh and could just put a knife through to cut with no effort. Served by Amina lovely lady and very helpful
Great service by Amina.
