About This Pub
Ah, Kean's Head – what a gem it is, tucked away in the heart of Nottingham's historic Lace Market. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, it's all about that incredible beer scene; they've got an impressive lineup of cask and craft brews, plus a massive selection of rums, gins, and whiskies that could keep you exploring for hours. The staff really make the place shine with their friendly banter and attentive service, making every visit feel like catching up with old friends. And let's not forget the food – it's fresh and packed with flavour, thanks to the folks at Paajis, with options like Indian 'tapas' that go down a treat alongside a cold pint. It's dog-friendly too, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your pooch, and they've got regular events and deals that add a fun twist, like discounted wings or takeaway beers. On the flip side, it's a snug single-room setup, so it can get a bit heaving on peak nights, and some of those tempting offers are app-only, which might not suit everyone. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone in Nottingham looking for a relaxed vibe with great drinks and grub – I'd say give it a go, but maybe aim for a quieter time if you prefer a bit more elbow room.
Pros and Cons

-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The food is fresh and full of flavour, especially the Indian-inspired options from Paajis, which pair perfectly with a pint and add a lovely twist to pub grub.
-
It's in a cracking location in Nottingham's Lace Market, opposite a historic church, making it ideal for a relaxed visit in a vibrant part of town.
-
They're super dog-friendly, which is great if you're out with your four-legged mate, and there are fun events like Wings Wednesday to keep things lively.
-
Plenty of deals and discounts, such as 30% off takeaway beers or food offers, add real value and make it easy on the wallet.
Cons
-
As a cosy single-room pub, it can get a bit packed on busier evenings, which might make it feel a tad cramped if you're after some space.
-
Some of the special offers, like discounts on food or drinks, are only available through the Castle Rock app, so you might miss out if you're not tech-savvy or signed up.
-
Food service wraps up fairly early, around 9 or 10pm depending on the day, which could be a downside if you're planning a late-night bite.

Another hidden gem recommended to me and I can see why great beer selection and friendly staff.
Moving from LA to Scotland with our two dogs - 1 night stopover in Nottingham, jet lagged and looking for somewhere central with good beer, good food, and dog friendly. The Keans Head knocked it out the park. Easy to make reservation by email - good back and forth with John. Got there around 8pm, lovely warm and welcoming room - smiley faces behind the bar greet us enthusiastically, knew who we were, showed us where the dog treats were and let us try the local pale ale. Our table was ready promptly and we had fabulous Indian food along with another pint. Service was immaculate, food quality excellent and great value for money. If you like beer - go here. If you like Indian food - go here. If you have dogs - go here. If you fit all three of the criteria, you can’t afford to miss this place. Highly recommended.
A fine selection of cask and keg beers, nice welcome from the bar staff.
Indian "tapas" for lunch (although a full menu was available).
Traditional pub in a very lovely part of the city centre.
This is a gem. Two of the best things (beer and curry) in one place. The range of beers, cider and whisky is phenomenal, and the curry is divine. The only regret is not having time to spend the afternoon here and work my way through the keg and cask offerings
It's a fantastic pub just away from the main centre. If you come to Nottingham and you don't come in here, you have missed a great pub.
