About This Pub
Ah, John Snow – it's one of those classic London pubs that you hear about and think, 'This could be a gem.' From what folks are saying, the atmosphere is spot on, especially if you head upstairs for a bit more room to chat and unwind. That organic wheat beer sounds like a winner too; I can imagine popping in for one after a long day. And when the staff are on form, they're genuinely lovely, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting. But, and it's a big but, there are some real downsides that I wouldn't want to gloss over. Some reviews mention seeing mice around, which is just not on – no one wants that surprise with their drink! Then there's the service; it can be proper off-putting if you're dealing with someone who's more interested in chatting with their mates than serving you. The food's another sore point, with tales of dry burgers and orders going awry, so maybe stick to the drinks if you do go. Overall, it's got that 4.2 rating going for it, suggesting it's generally a solid spot, but based on recent chatter, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just keep your expectations in check and perhaps go during quieter times to avoid any hassle.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is really welcoming, especially upstairs where there's more space to relax and enjoy a drink.
-
They've got some cracking organic wheat beer on tap – it's a proper treat if you're into that sort of thing.
-
Some of the staff can be dead friendly, making you feel right at home when things are going well.
Cons
-
There have been reports of pests like mice scurrying about, which is enough to put anyone off their pint.
-
Service can be a bit hit or miss, with some bar staff coming across as rude or uninterested in helping out.
-
The food's not up to scratch from what I've heard – complaints about dry meals, wrong orders, and a general lack of options.

We went for a pint in the upstairs area and were enjoying our time until a mouse ran across the floor. When we mentioned something to the bartender, he said he wasn't paid to handle this (fair enough)and nothing was done. We continued seeing the mouse and its eventual buddy till we left. Additionally, the pint felt quite overpriced especially considering the two mice and tepid handling of them.
Barkeep (Middle aged Bald man) didn't acknowledge anyone who came in. Kept talking to the local at the bar. Rolled his eyes when asked what they had to drink and when we tried to order. Very unfriendly and frankly just rude. Acted as though any customers coming in were a waste of time. I get we are tourists but there's no need for disrespect. Very disappointing.
worst "pub food" ever. they did not have half of the meals on the menu. wrong meal served. mini burger was dry. old dry bun. patty like a shoesole... waiter not very friendly.. propably the worst pub in london..
Great atmosphere. A little small on the ground floor, but more spacey upstairs. Always nice to pop in there for their organic wheat beer, and the staff is very friendly.
RUDE CREW - DON'T GO THERE [PLEASE READ THE WHOLE TEXT]
I still can't believe a place like this is still open
I went there because of the Cholera History of the pub.
Me and my sister would like to eat something, so after checking the Cholera pump, we went into the pub.
We asked for a table for 2. A guy told them they just had drinks, that we could sit anywhere.
So we choose a table and sit down.
They didn't give us the menu while we went to the table, so I had to stand up, go to the bar and ask for the menu, It looked like it was a favor.
When I got the menu, I saw a sign "excellent food served upstairs".
So I asked if the drinks from downstairs (the pub/bar) were the same from upstairs, because we wanted something to eat.
One of the 2 guys answered something I didn't ask. He said that to go upstairs, you should order food. I didn't ask that. So, I asked again if the drinks upstairs were the same from downstairs.
For the 2nd time, this guy didn't answer what I asked. He said that upstairs also have a bar. I don't know if he has any cognitive limitations, but upstairs can have a bar but the drinks don't need to be the same. That's why I was asking about the drinks.
Then, I asked for the 3rd time. Believe it or not, this guy huffed in anger and put this hands on his face, clearly showing he lost his mind.
He isn't able to answer a simple question and lost his mind. It's crazy.
Then, the other, with the painted nail, saw that the first guy had lost his mind and gave me the simple answer: YES, THE DRINKS ARE THE SAME.
I don't know if he behaved like this because he saw 2 lonely women and thought that he could treat us like this.
If there was a guy with us, would he behave like that?
I don't recommend this place. It's crazy someone who works with the public at a tourism area behaves like that
