About This Pub
Ah, Jackson's Boat in Sale – it's one of those pubs that really pulls at the heartstrings with its rustic charm and welcoming atmosphere, you know? I've heard from a few mates that it's spot on for a laid-back afternoon; the outdoor seating is just lovely on a sunny day, especially with the children's play area nearby, and it's brilliant that they welcome dogs – makes it feel inclusive and community-oriented. The drinks are fairly priced too, so you can settle in without worrying about the tab. On the brighter side, the views and surrounding walks add a nice touch for anyone wanting to combine a stroll with a stop for refreshments. But, and I say this with a bit of caution, it's not all smooth sailing; some folks have shared stories of food not quite hitting the mark, like missing bits from their dishes or the kitchen packing up earlier than you'd expect, which can be frustrating if you're there for a proper meal. Service has been a tad hit or miss as well, with reports of slow paces and the odd disagreement, so it might not be the place for a quick bite. All in all, if you're popping by, I'd suggest going for the vibe and a drink rather than relying on the grub – it's got that classic pub warmth, but keep in mind it could use a bit of fine-tuning to really shine.

What can I say but how disappointed we are. This pub used to have decent, good fresh pub grub. Came in yesterday lunch. Ordered chilli con carne (advertised on menu as comes with rice, sour cream and tortilla chips.) Food came out with just rice. When I questioned the waitress she argued with me about it not stating that until I showed her the menu... the food came out Stone cold in the middle as it had been badly microwaved. So asked for it to be hot.. it came back out bubbling after being extremely microwaved. And again no tortillas, had to go hunt for my own cutlery after the waitress forgot twice.. asked again about the sour cream and tortillas. She begrudgingly went to find them. Tried the tastless, super microwaved chilli. And the rice. The rice was rock solid like inedible. Waitress come back with sour cream etc. Pointed out it was inedible and rice hard and I'd like it to be taken back and refunded. Which she did. Highly unorganised a d very poor service. I think they need a little more training on product, cleanliness and people skills.. the place wasn't even busy maybe ten tables maximum. If I could give zero stars I would
Nice pub with good outdoor seating. Dogs allowed. Children's play area. Offers food and drink however food is not always on all day. The kitchen has closed earlier than advertised a few times we've been there. Good prices on drinks.
I ordered 3 scoops of ice-cream but only 2 scoops came!!! The ice-cream was still really good though and they gave me a caramel sauce on top of the ice-cream, they only have vanilla ice-cream. I then ordered chips or fries and they tasted delicious. The weather is great and t
hey have a little park at the back with tables to sit down. Customer service is very good, they were very nice and the food came quickly. I still want my 3rd scoop....
This place is utterly shocking.
Nice sunny day. You would think that they would place more staff on shift.
The pace off the staff is incredibly bad. They are on complete go slow.
Gave it the benefit of the doubt last time (as we experienced with be same issues today) but went again and experienced exactly the same. Everyone in the queue were feeling exactly the same and complaining.
This could be a great pub if it managed to consider improving few things a fair bit.
The staff are completely miserable too when serving and often fairly rude.
The only saving grace about this place is the fact it’s half way on a dog walk.
Doubt I’d go again which is a real shame as it’s great to have as a stop off.
Needs huge improvement.
We have been coming here on and off over many years. We love the rustic and homely feel of the place. The food is always amazing and the views are on par. This is a dog friendly pub which we also love, it's nice to see a venue that caters for dog owners because with the great walking trail that surrounds the pub it's easy to be able to nip in and have a drink without the worry of having your pet with you.
