About This Pub
Ah, Inn The Dog House – what a hidden gem in Adlington! I have to say, it's one of those places that just draws you in with its friendly vibe and unpretentious charm. The staff are absolute stars, always ready with a smile and a chat, which really makes the visit feel personal and enjoyable. Upstairs, that dart board setup is a proper treat; it's modern and self-scoring, so you can dive into a game without any hassle, making it brilliant for a casual evening with friends. They've got a solid range of drinks at fair prices too, including some great non-alcoholic choices, which is spot on if you're driving or just fancy something lighter. On the other hand, it's a small space, so it can get a bit cosy – maybe even overwhelming if it's packed – and I've heard it might struggle with staffing on busier times, leading to a slight wait at the bar. Still, it's got that authentic local feel, where you could easily strike up a conversation with whoever's there, and overall, I'd say it's well worth a visit for a relaxed night out, as long as you go in with the right expectations.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's a cosy little spot with a great atmosphere, ideal for a relaxed chat or a quiet pint after a walk around the village.
-
They've got a brilliant dart board setup upstairs with self-scoring tech, which is perfect for a fun game with mates.
-
Drinks are reasonably priced with a decent selection, including some nice non-alcoholic options to suit everyone.
-
The intimate size gives it a charming, community feel, where you might end up joining in on a conversation with the locals.
Cons
-
It can get a bit cramped due to its small size, which might not be ideal if you're after more space or a larger group outing.
-
On busier evenings, they might need more staff behind the bar to keep things running smoothly, as waits can add up.
-
The opening times start around 3 PM, which could be a downside if you're looking for a spot to pop into earlier in the day.
-
With its limited scale, it doesn't offer a massive variety of activities or drinks, so it might feel a tad basic for some tastes.

Brilliant set up, nice and small. Friendly staff, great dart board setup upstairs with a self scoring ‘OMNI’ by target.
Good watering hole on a walk around the village.
Small intimate drinking establishment. I called in, four men were already in and having a conversation. They were very friendly and involved me in the chat. Upstairs they have a dartboard.
Call in. You could do a lot worse and nor a lot better. Lady behithe bar very pleasant too.
Lovely small bar good atmosphere and reasonable choice of drink at fair price Lass behind bar worked hard perhaps on busy evenings extra staff needed but wait wasn't excessive
Fantastic little bar which has recently been adapted to hold more seating. Great range of beers including some nice nonalcoholic ones.
