About This Pub

Ah, Hyperbar – it's one of those local spots that really grows on you once you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are an absolute highlight; that barmaid, Kerry, sounds like a star, handling everything from serving to keeping the place shipshape with a genuine friendliness that makes you feel right at home. It's dead clean too, which is always a plus when you're settling in for a few pints. If you're into your sports, this is the place to be – think lively evenings with the footy or horse racing on the telly, creating that proper pub buzz we all love. And the drinks? Well, they're reasonably priced, with some top-notch lagers that hit the spot without breaking the bank, plus there's a beer garden for those rare sunny days in Bootle. But, to keep it real, there was that one nasty incident mentioned with the bar manager, which is a bit of a downer and might make you think twice if you're not up for any drama. Oh, and no food options here, so you'd best grab something from the takeaways around the corner if hunger strikes. All in all, with a solid 4.2 rating from the crowd, it's mostly a winner, but it's good to go in with your eyes open – perfect for a casual catch-up, as long as you steer clear of any potential rough patches.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond, like the barmaid who's always on top of things with a warm smile.
  • It's spotlessly clean, making it a comfortable and welcoming spot to relax.
  • A fantastic place for watching live sports, with a buzzing atmosphere especially for football and horse racing.
  • Drinks are affordable, with quality lagers at fair prices that won't empty your wallet.
  • There's a nice beer garden out the back, perfect for enjoying a pint when the weather's on your side.
Cons
  • There have been reports of aggressive behaviour from the bar manager in the past, which is a real shame and could put some off.
  • They don't serve food on-site, so you'll need to head to nearby takeaways if you're after a bite to eat.

The bar manager is one nasty character (short stocky guy). I was assaulted by him after someone else had upset him. I was watching this develop. He attacked me, as the other gent was bigger than him.. so he chose me just to save face. I was no match for him, as I have a disability. Total thug. Definitely one to avoid.

Best pint in Bootle. Quality lagers at a fair price and never a bad pint. Great for football and sport and decent beer garden to the rear. Meals are nice too
