About This Pub
Ah, the Horse & Groom in Wibsey, what a lovely little spot it is! From what I've gathered chatting about it with folks, it's got that warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to settle in for the evening. The staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everyone's having a good time, which really adds to the community feel. It's brilliant for watching live sports; you can kick back with a cold pint and cheer on your team, and they've got darts and pool to keep things entertaining if the game's not on. Plus, being dog-friendly means it's accessible for everyone, and those drink offers sound like a steal for keeping costs down. On the flip side, it's a bit of a letdown that they skip on hand pull beers – if you're a real ale enthusiast, you might find yourself wanting more variety there. The overall selection doesn't seem massive, so it might not suit if you're after something fancy. Still, with such positive buzz from regulars about the cleanliness and the landlady's community spirit, I'd say it's well worth a visit for a relaxed night out, as long as you go in with realistic expectations. All in all, it's a solid choice for a no-fuss pint in a friendly setting.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's a fantastic spot for catching live sports like football or rugby, with a lively atmosphere that gets everyone buzzing.
-
They've got a well-maintained dartboard and pool room, which is brilliant for a bit of fun with mates after a few pints.
-
Dogs are welcome, so it's perfect if you're popping in with your furry friend for a relaxed afternoon.
-
The drinks are affordably priced with some great offers, especially their summer range, which keeps things value-for-money.
Cons
-
It's a shame they don't have any hand pull beers on offer, which might disappoint those after a more traditional real ale experience.
-
The drink selection seems a bit limited overall, so if you're looking for something beyond the usual lagers, you might not find it here.
-
While it's open most days, the later hours on weekends could be a bit inconsistent with what's listed, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.
