About This Pub

You know, I've got to say, the Horse & Groom really stands out as one of those pubs that just gets it right for a laid-back evening out. Tucked away in a charming cobbled mews near Belgrave Square, it's got this warm, inviting feel with traditional wood panelling and etched glass that makes you want to settle in for the night. The staff are absolute stars – they're efficient, chatty, and go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or staying for a full meal. Speaking of which, their home-cooked food and fine selection of ales and wines are spot on, and it's all served with that genuine hospitality you don't always find these days. Plus, the Beatles history is a brilliant touch; it's like getting a free history lesson with your drink! On the flip side, it's a small spot, so it can feel a bit cramped when it's busy, and if you're after something more modern or spacious, it might not quite hit the mark. Still, for anyone wanting a proper traditional pub experience without the big-city hustle, I'd recommend giving it a go – it's one of those places that leaves you with a smile and a promise to return.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got that classic cosy atmosphere with traditional wood panelling and etched glass, perfect for a relaxing pint.
  • They serve up excellent hand-pumped ales, beers, and wholesome home-cooked food that's just the ticket after a day of exploring.
  • The pub's rich history, including its Beatles connections, adds a fun layer of intrigue and makes for great conversations.
  • There's outdoor seating in the mews when the sun's out, and an upstairs area for a bit more space or private gatherings.
Cons
  • It's a tad small, which means it can get quite snug on busier evenings and might not be ideal for larger groups.
  • The location in a quiet mews is lovely, but it's a bit tucked away, so you might miss it if you're not keeping an eye out.
  • While the food sounds spot-on, a few folks might wish for a wider variety of options beyond the traditional fare.

VERY cool place and awesome owner. Definitely must go, not to mention the Beatles history, (the Beatles used to hang out here).
