About This Pub

Ah, the Hoop & Mallet – it's one of those local spots that just feels like a proper pub, you know? I've heard from a few folks that the team behind the bar are absolute stars; they really make an effort to create a welcoming environment, like when they went out of their way to show a different football match for someone. The entertainment's spot on too, with a buzzing vibe that gets everyone in the mood for a good chat or a laugh. It's perfect if you're after a relaxed evening watching the game or catching up with mates. On the flip side, though, the drinks can be a tad pricey, which might sting a bit on the wallet, and it's a shame they don't offer any food options – you'd have to head elsewhere for that. Oh, and if you're someone who likes to bring your furry friend along, you might be out of luck since they don't allow dogs in. All in all, with its solid reputation, it's worth swinging by if you're in the area, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and always willing to go the extra mile, like sorting out a TV for a specific football game.
  • It has a fantastic atmosphere with top-notch entertainment that makes for a really enjoyable evening.
  • It's a great spot for catching up with friends or watching sports, with a welcoming vibe that keeps things lively.
Cons
  • The beer prices are a bit on the steep side, which might make you think twice before ordering another round.
  • They don't serve any food, so you'll have to pop out for a bite if you're getting peckish.
  • It's one of the few pubs that doesn't allow dogs inside, even though it's not a food-focused place, which could be a letdown for dog lovers.

Visited for an evening of Champions League football. While most of the pub was dominated by Liverpool fans, the manager made the effort for me to show the Villa game on another TV so very much appreciated 👍
