About This Pub
Ah, The Maltings – what a gem of a pub tucked away in Warrington! I've got to say, it's one of those places that really warms your heart, especially if you're out with your dog; it's so thoughtfully set up for them, making it feel like a proper family affair. The atmosphere is spot on, with comfy indoor spots and great outdoor seating that lets you soak up the surroundings, and they've nailed the drinks menu with a wide array of beers and some truly spectacular cocktails. The food doesn't disappoint either – think hearty traditional breakfasts and classic pub dishes that leave you satisfied. But, to keep it real, if dogs aren't your thing, it might feel a bit overwhelming with all the wagging tails around. Plus, there was that one comment about the cheese in the sandwiches being a tad mild, which is a shame when the rest of the offerings are so good. Overall, though, with such high praise from regulars and that solid 4.4 rating, it's well worth a visit for a laid-back evening or a cheeky lunch – just pop in prepared for a dog-centric vibe and you'll have a cracking time!
Pros and Cons

It's a fantastic spot for dog lovers, with a welcoming environment where your furry friend can join in on the fun.
-
The atmosphere is truly warm and inviting, boasting both cosy indoor seating and lovely outdoor areas to enjoy.

Cons
-
If you're not keen on dogs, it might not be your cup of tea, as the place is very much geared towards them and you could end up sharing space with a few four-legged visitors.
-
There have been a couple of niggles with the food, like some sandwiches having rather bland cheese, which could do with a bit more flavour to really shine.
-
The operating status seems a tad unclear at times, so it's worth double-checking before you head out to avoid any disappointment.

Wandering Wednesday’ this week took both Hubby Neil and I to a new place…..
‘The Maltings’ which is just a couple of miles down the road….. I think we have been put off going, only because when it was ‘The Bewsey Farm’ many, many years ago, you’d walk in and your feet would stick to the floor!….. it’s definitely not the case now….. Set back from The Sankey Valley Canal, in amongst woodlands, this pub is a little cracker! It is renowned for being a ‘Dog friendly pub’…. They have outside and inside seating where dogs are not restricted in either.
The pub looks spotlessly clean and with plenty of customers and some furry friends…… they even have a dog menu!…. Brilliant!
We even learned that The Maltings and one of our favourite eateries ‘The White Hart’ are Sister pubs, so this will explain why the food was absolutely delicious, each dish was beautifully presented…..
We went for starters today:
Neil had Italian meatballs in Napoli sauce, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and served with garlic bread.
I had: deep fried crispy battered squid, with zesty lemon mayo, served on a bed of baby gem lettuce and pea shoot garnish.
For Entree’s Neil had Salt and pepper noodles, tossed in a Teriyaki sauce with peers and onions…..
Topped with pan fried Salmon (or you can have the choice of chicken if you wish).
I had the ‘Cluckin Hot’ which was two crispy buttermilk chicken fillets, paired with melted sliced cheese, drizzled with hot sauce mayo and garnished with spicy jalapeno’s…. I upgraded my fries to sweet potato fries tossed together with mixed peppers and onions, with a pot of coleslaw…… there was a lady and gentleman serving behind the bar as well as the food orders, very friendly, polite, attentive and courteous…..
The food was amazing and we will 100% be going back…..I could kick myself for not trying this pub before now!!
We popped in here this evening for a drink & few side snacks while out walking our dog. Such a wholesome little find - the music they were playing and the atmosphere was amazing. Unreal outdoor and indoor seating also. Will definitely be back again
Great Breakfast, really nice atmosphere. I think we turned up on the day they had a dogs walk planned as the pub is based around and caters for dogs 🐕
If you don't like dogs then don't go to this pub. We are more of a cat family but like dogs (with responsible owners), so we can't fault it.
So glad to have discovered this place. Love everything about it, no complaints whatsoever and highly recommend for all doggo lovers
Great spot for lunch. Homemade chips are always nice to see! My son had Gammon which looked great. I ordered a sandwich and the cheese was extremely mild with no flavour, possibly mozzarella rather than a sharp cheddar? It would be nice to see this improved. Overall it was good value for money and we would try it again.
