About This Pub
Ah, The Stonemill – it's one of those pubs that really tries to be all things to everyone, and honestly, it pulls off a lot of it quite nicely. Picture this: you're stepping into a bright, airy space in Warrington that's modern and inviting, with a cracking selection of beers and drinks that could keep any ale enthusiast chatting for hours. I love how they've got that family vibe going on, with pizza parties for the little ones and a big beer garden that's just made for lazy afternoons. The shuffleboard adds a cheeky bit of entertainment too, especially with those group deals that bundle in food and drinks – it's like they've thought of everything for a good night out. But, and there's always a but, isn't there? From what I've seen in the reviews, the food doesn't always hit the mark; you might end up with something tasteless or poorly prepared, like a roast dinner that leaves you wishing you'd gone elsewhere, or a burger that's barely worth the bite. Service can be a tad slow when things get hectic, and some folks feel it's overpriced for the experience. Overall, it's worth a visit if you're after drinks and a laugh, but maybe keep expectations in check for the grub – that way, you can focus on the positives and have a balanced pint or two with mates.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is spot on – it's bright, airy, and modern, making it a welcoming spot for a relaxed get-together.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of beers, including award-winning real ales and craft options, plus a great gin and rum menu to keep everyone happy.
-
It's super family-friendly with things like pizza-making parties for kids and a large enclosed beer garden that's perfect for sunny days.
-
The shuffleboard is a fun addition – you can book it with deals that include pizzas and drinks, which sounds like a brilliant way to spend an evening.
-
They welcome dogs in the bar area, so it's ideal if you're out with your furry friend.
Cons
-
Food quality can be hit or miss; some reviews mention tasteless dishes, like burnt veg or frozen potatoes, which is a real shame for a pub meal.
-
Service might drag a bit when it's busy, as one person noted during a packed Christmas lunch, leaving you waiting longer than you'd like.
-
Portions can be overly generous but not always in a good way – think huge Yorkshire puddings that don't live up to the hype.
-
It's on the pricey side for what you get, with complaints about spending a fair bit and still going home disappointed or hungry.
-
Recent feedback suggests inconsistency, especially with meals like burgers and curries that didn't impress at all.

Ordered two roast dinners. Broccoli tasted burnt , roast potatoes still frozen ( not real potatoes were out of a packet ) carrots tasteless , cabbage tasteless and minimal the gravy was awful just tasteless neither of us could finish our meal wouldn’t recommended at all. Not worth the money .
Had a lovely meal, great service, accept Blue light card too, had the steak and ale pie, food was hot and we were all served at the same time.
I attended a pizza making session with my grandson. It was a fabulous experience that he really enjoyed. The landlady was very organised, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Once the pizza that the children was cooked, it arrived with chips. Once they had all.eaten, they then got to go and do their own ice-cream.
Great value and great fun..
I was there today for lunch. Had a classic burger and chicken tikka masala. Worst food ever.Chicken tikka was like from Lidl for £1.70 in the pot and nan bread was hard like rock. Burger was for 3 bite and that's it! Spend 32 pounds and went home hungry. No recommend this restaurant!
Went here for Christmas lunch on Christmas Day 2024. Pretty slow service because the place was crammed full. Starters were good. Main course far too big, dominated by a huge Yorkshire pudding which was very poor. Both of us ate a very small portion to try it then put the rest aside as not at all edible. Typical pub Yorkshire pudding. Turkey was pretty good. It was served with pickled red cabbage which was awful no cranberry sauce or bread sauce. Sprouts were very small and overcooked. Christmas pudding with custard was fine but no sign of brandy sauce or brandy butter!
Took most of mine home in a doggie bag to fry up today. At a cost of £59.50, it was way overpriced. Drinks were not included, so paid extra for them.
Overall, a very poor experience and not one to be repeated.
