About This Pub
Ah, Hole in the Wall – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its welcoming feel, even if the outside looks a tad more polished than the inside. I love how the staff go out of their way to make you feel at ease, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for a full meal; the food's always spot on with hearty portions that leave you satisfied without emptying your wallet. They've got a great selection of real ales and some cracking background tunes that make for a relaxed evening, and it's brilliant for events – think weddings with beautifully done-up rooms and endless sandwiches to keep the party going. That said, it's not without its downsides; the place can seem a bit worn out in person, and the dim lighting might not suit everyone, especially if you're hoping for something a little more upbeat. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back get-together, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep those expectations realistic based on the photos!
Pros and Cons

-
It's got a lovely relaxed atmosphere with great background music and a selection of well-kept real ales that really hit the spot.
-
Ideal for special occasions, like weddings, with beautifully decorated spaces and plentiful grub that keeps everyone happy.
Cons
-
The interior can feel a bit tired in real life compared to those glossy online photos, so it might not live up to expectations at first glance.
-
It's quite dark inside, which adds character but could make it tricky if you're after a brighter, more lively vibe.

We aren’t local and chose to eat here purely from online photos.
It looks amazing on the photos, however is a little more tired in person. It’s dark inside but certainly has character.
We were given a warm welcome and prices were reasonable for both food and drink. Portion sizes were good, quality not so great and certainly didn’t match the photos.
All was ok until a ‘singer’ very loudly belted their way through what were originally good songs. I’m glad we were sat upstairs, I really feel for anyone who had chosen to sit downstairs.
Overall it was a pleasant evening but I don’t think we’d return if we were back in the area.
Saturday 25.1.25 we held our wedding reception in the upstairs room. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and tidy. Food was excellent and plentiful; more sandwiches arriving when all had been eaten.
I believe the manager was Lewis. What a lovely, helpful, friendly man. Our guests were most impressed. Indeed one bought us a voucher for a meal being so impressed,
We definitely will be back and so will many of our guests. We can’t praise it enough.
Stunning food, fabulous staff and a really relaxed and calming lunch. Will definitely visit again, simply excellent from the moment we entered... and pickled eggs too!
