About This Pub

Ah, Hatfield House – it's one of those places that just warms your heart the moment you walk in. As Belfast's oldest bar, it's got this incredible traditional Irish vibe with ornate ceilings and craftsmanship that harks back to the days of the Titanic, making every visit feel like a step back in time. The food's a real highlight; think fresh, tasty options with some wallet-friendly specials that keep things exciting, and the drinks menu is spot on, whether you're after a classic pint or one of those cracking cocktail deals. The staff are absolute stars too, always up for a friendly natter and making sure everyone feels at home. Then there's the entertainment – live music buzzing every night, plus a fantastic sports setup for catching the games on multiple screens, and don't forget those cosy outdoor spots for a bit of fresh air. But, let's be honest, it does have its downsides; it can get proper packed on busier nights, turning the charm into a bit of a crowd crush, and the noise can ramp up, which might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're after something quieter. All in all, though, it's a brilliant spot for a laugh with mates, offering that perfect mix of history, good craic, and a welcoming atmosphere – I'd say it's well worth a visit, just time it right for what you're in the mood for!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The historical charm is absolutely captivating – it's like stepping into Belfast's past with its original fixtures and that unique curved bar, which has a fascinating Titanic connection.
  • The food and drinks are spot on, with tasty specials like loaded fries and great deals on cocktails, making it a brilliant spot for a bite and a bevvy.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, often sharing stories about the pub's history, which adds a personal touch to your visit.
  • It's packed with entertainment options, from live music and DJs every night to a top-notch sports area with loads of screens for watching the action.
  • The outdoor spaces, like the beer garden and roof terrace, are perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying a refreshing drink with a view over the city.
Cons
  • It can get really crowded, especially later in the evening, which might make it a bit of a squeeze if you're after a relaxed chat.
  • The lively atmosphere means it can be quite noisy at times, so if you're hoping for a peaceful pint, you might find it a tad overwhelming.

Hatfield was a great accidental discovery. Great food, Great service. Connor, who works at the bar, gave us an excellent tour and history of the bar including the very unique curved bar (its twin was on the Titanic), and an original signed Good Friday Agreement Document ... and sadly some of the very nearby events during the Troubles. Do yourself a favour and add Hatfield House to your Belfast itinerary.

Great pub! Me and my husband always stop in for a Beamish on our way into town. They do a good pint and if you go early enough the vibes are very chill. If you are going later, then prepare to be in a large crowd. The loaded fries are tasty and the staff are friendly!

Stopped off here for a wee cheeky cocktail (or two). Staff were friendly and place was clean and tidy. Sun was shining so we sat outside and watched the world go by. Cocktails were £7 and treated like they actually had alcohol in them unlike at other places. Ordered some Dirty Fries as a small snack and the portion size was really good. Some melted cheese would have been a good addition to the dish. Decoration has been done with some thought and attention. Toilets smelled fresh and looked clean.
