About This Pub
Ah, Harvester Gidea Park in Romford – it's one of those places that just feels like a reliable go-to for a bite with the family or a catch-up with friends. From what I've gathered, the staff are the real stars here; they're warm, attentive, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like chatting about menu picks or remembering your face from a booking. The food's generally a winner too, with that famous unlimited salad bar stealing the show alongside hearty options like perfectly cooked steaks and festive specials that folks rave about. It's spot on for families, offering something for even the fussiest eaters, and being right in the heart of things with free parking makes it dead easy to swing by after a wander around the local parks or cinema. But, let's be honest, it's not all sunshine – there are times when the food doesn't quite hit the mark, with one person calling it disgusting, which is a bit of a downer when you're looking forward to a good meal. Still, with an overall solid rating and most people leaving chuffed, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area; just keep it balanced in your mind, and you'll likely have a lovely time tucking into some classic pub fare without the hassle.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – from the reviews, servers like Sharon, Charlotte, Kass, and Bree really go the extra mile to make your visit special, remembering faces and offering spot-on recommendations.
-
It's a top choice for families, with a dedicated kids' menu and a wide range of dishes that cater to everyone, from tasty rotisserie chicken and grilled options to plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices.
-
The unlimited salad bar is a real highlight, always fresh and a great way to balance out those hearty meals like steaks or BBQ plates.
-
Conveniently located with free parking, it's easy to pop in after a day out, whether you're near Raphael Park or just passing through Romford.
Cons
-
Food quality isn't always consistent; one person mentioned it being downright disappointing, with even simple things like peas tasting off, which is a shame when the rest seems so promising.
-
It can feel a bit hit or miss based on the odd negative experience, so you might want to keep expectations in check, especially if you're after something foolproof every time.

Lovely food and service from waitress Sharon at gidea park
Booked from Australia and spoke to Charlotte who was AMAZING, and easily confirmed our booking. My husband and l were there to see a sister (now in her 80s)in a once in a lifetime trip to the UK. Charlotte was our door greeter and also our waitress (she remembered me straight away), which made it extra special. As it was my husband’s birthday in a few days time, she also brought out his sweet with a lit candle and singing Happy Birthday. She did everything in her power to create a very special memory - apart from the wonderful Charlotte the food was fantastic . Chicken skewers with satay sauce, and two servings of fish and chips all with endless salad bar available. Followed by warm chocolate fudge cake and lemon amazing desert (can’t remember name). All very tasty and beautifully presented. Thank you Harvester Restaurant and ESPECIALLY CHARLOTTE!!!b
Went in for lunch for on 1st March to celebrate my dad's birthday a day early, our server Kass was very helpful and she recommend the Glazed Choux Bun for my dessert and I enjoyed it and I was very happy with her suggestion. The food was delicious, and my dad said his steak was cooked perfectly.
Disgusting food. Staff are friendly but the food is terrible, nothing on this plate is worth having, even the peas taste weird
