About This Pub
You know, when I think about Half Penny Farm, it just brings a smile – it's one of those pubs that gets the basics spot on and then some. The carvery stands out as a real winner; it's packed with flavour, from the crispy roast potatoes to the slow-cooked meats, and at such reasonable prices, it's hard not to feel like you've got a bargain. The staff are gems too, always on hand with a kind word or a little extra touch, like cheering up a fussy child with a treat, which really adds to the homely feel. It's spot on for families, with indoor play spaces and thoughtful facilities that make it easy for everyone to enjoy themselves. On the upside, the location's a doddle, with good parking and nearby attractions for a full day out. But, fair's fair, it does tend to bustle on busier days, so you might end up waiting a minute or two, and being part of a larger chain, it doesn't quite have that one-of-a-kind charm some folks crave. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together; I'd say pop in for a bite and see for yourself – you might just make it your go-to spot.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The carvery is an absolute treat – generous portions and top-quality grub that leaves you feeling chuffed and full up.
-
Staff are ever so friendly and attentive, always popping over to check if you need anything, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming.
-
It's brilliantly family-friendly with indoor play areas and accessible facilities, making it a breeze for a day out with the little ones.
-
Great value for money, especially for breakfast or a Sunday roast, without breaking the bank.
-
Plenty of parking and handy location near Dudley and Birmingham, plus perks like WiFi and EV charging for added convenience.
Cons
-
It can get rather busy, particularly on weekends, so you might face a bit of a queue at the bar or carvery.
-
As it's part of a chain, the atmosphere might feel a tad standard rather than uniquely cosy, if you're after something more quirky.

Really busy today as you'd expect on a Sunday. We booked & got seated straight away. Queue at the bar went down in a couple of minutes & barely any queue for the carvery. Had the large & it didn't dissapoint. Wow 👌🏼 👏🏼 😍 won't be eating till tomorrow now as so full. Great value for money
Thank you to the lovely Maria who looked after us this morning, she was brilliant, very kind and helpful, always asked if we needed anything else at the breakfast buffet. Lovely pub and great food, good value for money at breakfast too. Thank you. Will be back again soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed our carvery here. The food was good quality and the service was brilliant. Lady saw my daughter was upset and offered her a free ice cream which instantly cheered her up! Lovely kind lady!
Has a large car park with accessible entrance. Nice, comfortable atmosphere. Staff (Jen) were friendly and helpful. The food was nice and well presented.
I came with my sister and her son as neither of us wanted to cook dinner. He’s 2 so I booked a table near the play area so that he could go in there which he enjoyed. My sister had a standard carvery I went for a large plate food was lovely, choice of food options was really good
