About This Pub
Ah, the Griffin – it's one of those pubs that really captures the heart of Loughborough, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, it's a fantastic place for unwinding with friends, whether you're a student or a local just popping in for a quick one. The staff are absolute stars, always ready with a smile and that genuine warmth that makes you feel like part of the gang, and the drinks selection is spot on, offering everything from smooth craft beers to cheeky cocktails. Plus, the outdoor garden is perfect for those sunny afternoons, and they've got live sports and events that keep things lively without being overwhelming. It's dog-friendly too, which is a nice touch for us animal lovers. On the flip side, though, the food's a mixed bag – the menu's pretty straightforward with pub classics, but some reviews reckon it's not always up to scratch, like a dodgy pizza or onion rings that don't quite hit the mark. And every now and then, the service might lack a bit of spark, which could leave you wanting a bit more chat. Overall, I'd say it's a solid choice for a good night out, especially if you're after drinks and atmosphere over a gourmet meal – just go in with an open mind and you're in for a treat!

-
It's buzzing with live sports screenings and fun events like summer parties, which really add to the lively atmosphere.
-
Being dog-friendly means you can bring your furry companion along, making it a relaxed spot for a casual outing.
-
Easy parking nearby and a central location in Loughborough make it super convenient to pop in after work or for a quick meet-up.
Cons
-
The food menu is a bit basic and nothing out of the ordinary – some dishes like burgers are alright, but they don't stand out as particularly special.
-
A few folks have mentioned that the food quality can be inconsistent, with things like pizzas coming out burnt or feeling like they've been straight from the freezer.
-
Service can sometimes feel a tad flat, with staff not always engaging or smiling much, which might dampen the vibe on busier days.

I’ve been at Loughborough for 4 years and this is hands down the best pub in town! The staff are all so kind and lovely, the beer and food is amazing! They host summer parties and events that are next to none! Highly recommend this pub!
The griffin has been my go to place for 4 years. it has a great atmosphere and drink selection aswell as selling good food. I will truly miss this place and recommend it to anyone coming loughborough.
Came in here to get lunch. Menu is Billy basics with light bites and lots burgers. Burgers all sound nice so choose one of them and a sandwich for my partner. Food was nice but nothing special.
The staff member that served me had zero personality, no smile or interaction apart from the very basics to get my order.
The venue itself is quite large inside and in good order with a mix of comfy seats and standard chairs with plenty of spaces to sit. The outside area is huge for town centre bar, which I can imagine is nice to sit out in during summer.
Would I recommend visiting it. No I wouldn't, but I also wouldn't say stay from it either.
This place we discovered just by luck and definitely recommending! Absolutely amazing atmosphere, felt welcomed, food was wonderfully delicious, lots of different draft beers, clean bathrooms, and board games. We will return . Parking was easy, just behind the pub, we paid a ticket for two hours which cost £2 after 6 pm. Thank you so much for such a wonderful food ! 😋 😋 😋
We came in on a Sunday afternoon for a bit of lunch and the food came pretty quickly. However it was not of high quality at all. I ordered a pizza and it came out completely burnt on the edges and appears to be from the freezer. Two friends ordered beer battered onion rings, the only ones on the menu. The first batch came out with the food quickly but the second lot came a bit later, and as seen from the photo, definitely not beer battered. We asked why we had been given obviously frozen onion rings and there was no clear answer other than they had run out? But surely beer battered onion rings should be made fresh? Or at least can be made fresh to order. Either way no apology was given and we're left very confused as to why we've been given food we never ordered, or at least a refund. Also the beans from the jacket potato were cold. Disappointed.
Edit: We managed to speak to the manager who was very helpful and swiftly agreed to a refund for the onion rings.
