About This Pub
Ah, the Greencoat Boy – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart from the moment you step inside. Picture a 19th-century gem with a modern edge, where the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like they're old mates chatting about the best brews or dishing out spot-on recommendations. Folks rave about the cosy atmosphere, with its soft lighting and inviting vibe that's perfect for a chilled afternoon or evening, especially if you're with the family or your four-legged friend. The food and drinks are a real highlight too – think tasty burgers, seasonal specials, and cracking deals on lunch that won't break the bank, all paired with a frosty pint or cocktail. It's in a brilliant spot near Westminster, making it easy to pop in after a wander around the landmarks. On the flip side, though, it does wind down earlier on Saturdays and Sundays, so it's more suited to a relaxed session rather than a full night out, and it can get a bit crowded when the buzz is on, which might mean a wait for a table. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after that authentic pub experience without any fuss – I'd say give it a go for a proper good time.

Went here after walking around from st. James park, because it looked pretty from the outside. The inside was cozy and had pretty lighting. I asked the bartender for recommendations for beers and he let me try a few and told me which ones he thought I would like. We got some local drafts, cocktails and shots and everything was great. We loved the decor and everything from it. Definitely recommend !
Great pub with friendly and helpful staff, and great atmosphere from other patrons young and old! Came in 10 minutes to close and ordered a Brixton lager, and the keg was tapped. Perfectly happy to order something else, the bartender insisted it was no problem to change the keg which they did in under two minutes. Above and beyond from this neighborhood pub. Stop in for a pint, you won’t be disappointed. The name of the pub has a cool story too, I won’t spoil it here, come find out for yourself.
What a delightful find! We were looking for traditional pub food after a long afternoon at the London ExCel ahead of the 2025 marathon. We walked from St. James's Park station to the Albert after hearing how it survived the Blitz, but there was a live band playing, not unusual for a Friday night but not what we were looking for. We then were turned away at the Bay and Bracket because my 10-year old nephew was with us, and the law changed recently regarding minors in bars. Certainly not their fault, but we were disappointed. So my 2 brothers and 2 nephews and I continued to the Greencoat Boy, and their licencing allowed us to stay 40 minutes which was just enough time for a few pints, fish and chips (my brothers said the fish was a bit overdone but they sure finished it), the best steak and ale pie I've ever had and some impressive mac and cheese for my younger nephew. All the while the service was friendly, fast and apologetic for the situation. So very grateful for the bar staff and speedy kitchen.
My wife and I were walking from Big Ben, Parliament towards a kebab restaurant when we came across this very interesting looking bar. We decided to peek inside since my wife was hangry and I was thirsty. We met Joe, our barman an a couple of the staff who recommended 3 wonderful dishes. My wife was back to her normal, wonderful self and after 3 pints, I was no longer thirsty. When visiting London, avoid the tourist traps and go to The Greencoat Boy, you will thank me.
P.S. We tried the pulled beef croquettes, karaage sticky chicken, crispy cod goujons and the chocolate brownie. All were amazing.
Great little pub in London. Staff were extremely friendly. We got the sharing plates and wine, fabulous prices and much better atmosphere compared to it's dark greenekinge neighbour. Would recommend for a chilled bit to eat and few drinks
