About This Pub
Ah, the Golden Lion – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local in Romford, you know? From what I've gathered from chats with others who've popped in, the staff are absolute gems; they're always up for a laugh and make sure you're well looked after without hovering. The food's usually a winner too – think hearty dishes that pair perfectly with a cold one, and it's brilliant for catching the big matches like the Women's Euros or rugby tours. They've got a nice beer garden for sunnier days, and it's spot on for families or groups wanting a relaxed vibe. But, fair play, it's not all perfect; a few have mentioned the grub can be hit or miss on occasion, so maybe it's best to go in with that in mind. Overall, it's a solid spot for a good time, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after somewhere welcoming without breaking the bank – just keep an eye on those busy nights!

Absolutely love this pub. The staff are amazing and extremely friendly. Only downfall was the food on this occasion I have had better on other occasions. So maybe it's just a one off. Won't put me off as I will still come in for my liquid lunch.
Have eaten here on various occasions. Good food - i particularly enjoy the lasagne. Staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The fact that they show the Footie/Rugby here too, keeps my other half happy! A perfect place for a relaxed meal or drinks — highly recommend!
My 1st time using this pub at the weekend and can honestly say it was great, a traditional pub with a great atmosphere. We weren’t going to eat in there but noticed food looked so good so we stayed for food, thoroughly enjoyed our food. Staff were very smiley, polite and helpful. This is now our new regular pub/restaurant. Thank you all at the Golden Lion
A really friendly pub with helpful staff who made sure I was happy and made me feel welcome. The food was very good and a little spicy which was welcome, the general mood has always been alright at all times of the day that I've been in.
I had a big party at the Golden Lion last night and it was absolutely fantastic. Natalie and her team worked tirelessly to make sure the event was amazing. The buffet food was incredible. I couldn’t believe the quality of the food. I’m still thinking about the sandwiches because they were amazing.
Nothing was too much trouble and I highly recommend.
