About This Pub
Oh, you know, I've got to say, Turtle Bay Romford really stands out as a gem in the area – it's got that warm Caribbean spirit that makes you feel like you're on holiday, even on a rainy day in Romford. From what I've seen, folks rave about the service; the team there goes the extra mile to make your visit special, whether it's for a birthday bash or just a casual drink. The food's generally spot on, with those rich flavours and options like bottomless brunch that keep you coming back, and the 2-4-1 cocktails are a brilliant way to unwind without breaking the bank. It's conveniently placed near the station, so it's easy to nip in after a wander around the shops. That said, it's not all perfect – some dishes don't quite hit the heights of a proper homemade meal, and it can get a bit hectic when it's busy, meaning you might have to wait a tick for a seat. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a fun evening; I'd recommend giving it a go if you're after good vibes and a bit of island escape right here in Essex.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The service is absolutely brilliant – staff like Lee, Jaeden, Manovi, and Max are super attentive and make you feel right at home, turning a simple meal into a memorable occasion.
-
The food is a real treat, with delicious Caribbean dishes that hit the spot, especially if you're after something tasty like their beef curry or sides.
-
It's got a fantastic vibe with reggae beats and that laid-back island feel, making it ideal for bottomless brunches or enjoying 2-4-1 cocktails any day.
-
Handy location near Romford station and The Brewery, perfect for a quick stop after shopping or a night out without the hassle.
-
They're welcoming to walk-ins and have great facilities like outdoor space and free WiFi, so it's easy to pop in spontaneously.
Cons
-
Some dishes might not quite match up to homemade versions, like the beef curry not being as flavourful or tender as you'd get at home.
-
It can get busy, which might mean waits for a table even if you're just popping by, especially during peak times.
-
A few menu items have been removed, such as the fish fritters, so you might miss out on old favourites if you're set on them.

Had an amazing time at Turtle Bay Romford thanks to Lee and Jaeden! Their service was spot on, attentive, friendly, and full of positive energy. They made a birthday celebration feel truly special with thoughtful touches and great vibes. Can’t thank them enough, will definitely be back!
Food was delicious, amazing service and nice venue. We had the best server ever her name is Manovi do ask for her she provides 10/10 service, always nice and polite and very very fast with the drinks .
I went with my partner for a nice day out. Manovi treated us and catered to our needs well despite the busy groups ordering food and a drinks.
Polite and very hospitable. Would of definitely loved to give her a tip if i had any cash.
Will definitely come back again for the great food and hospitable staff
I got here with the lads on a little night out after work.
We are new around the area so we needed a tour guide and MAX was no short of that!! Not only he gave us amazing service but he was also a great vibe and great help for getting around. I’d come again because of Max! Love you Max 🫶
Marie was exceptional in helping me when i realised that the fish fritters were no longer on the menu.
I then decided on the beef curry with mash, mac n cheese bites, calamari and sweet potato fries.
You won't be disappointed. The curry isn't going to reach home levels of flavour and tenderness in the beef, but it's a good size portion with a good amount of beef and a rich gravy.
The calamari is crispy and delicious with jerk mayo. We had an extra pot as its lush with the sweet potato fries. They're crispy but soft. Makes sweet potato way more yummy like this.
And the mac n cheese bites are a good option for anyone missing the fish fritters. They're crispy and crunchy with a nice flavoursome and soft mac n cheese in the middle. Not dried out like many mac n cheese bites can be.
Overall a great experience plus 2 for 1 on cocktails until 7pm so I enjoyed 2 passion martinis made with vodka which were delicious.
