About This Pub
Ah, the Gatehouse – it's one of those pubs that had a bit of a rough patch years ago but has really pulled itself together lately, and it's clear from the buzz around it. I love how the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome; they're chatty and efficient, which makes popping in for a pint or a meal feel like catching up with old friends. The food's a winner too, especially with those affordable deals like tucking into specials for just a tenner – it's hearty, family-friendly fare that's perfect for a casual night out, and the value for money is spot on. Plus, with events like quiz nights and big sports matches on the telly, there's always something to get excited about. On the flip side, it does get heaving sometimes, so you might end up queuing or squeezing into a spot, and while the grub is generally good, it's not going to blow your socks off if you're after something fancy – think reliable pub classics rather than gourmet treats. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening; I'd say give it a go if you're in Wolverhampton, as the positives far outweigh the little niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, helpful, and always up for a chat, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a fantastic spot for families and groups, with a welcoming atmosphere, affordable prices, and tasty dishes that won't break the bank.
-
They've got loads going on, like quiz nights and live sports screenings, which really add to the lively vibe and make it a great place to catch up with mates.
Cons
-
It can get pretty busy at times, so you might have to wait for a table or deal with a bit of a crowd, especially during peak hours.
-
The food is generally solid, but it's not always a standout – some dishes are just okay, so it pays to know what you're after if you're fussy.

Went down hill many years ago but recently decided to try again. Very nice good and very friendly staff. Adele was lovely and didn't ask the other lady for her name.
This Pub has massively improved over the past couple of years . The staff are brilliant. Hard working and friendly. The food has also improved . Well done!!!
The Quiz night on Tuesday is always a great atmosphere.
I had a lovely evening with my family at your wonderful pub. Great affordable food and was very delicious! Will definitely be coming again, Such good affordable prices for the great quality. The atmosphere was great and the staff were so welcoming and kind. Two members of staff stood out to me I believe their names are Chloe and Deli they deserve some recognition. Xoxo
Ashleigh and Michelle were amazing, so helpful and polite, the vegan food was fantastic, very clean and family friendly atmosphere. Also the value for money is great. We Will definitely be back!
Good place to bring the kids/family/friends. Nice atmosphere. Does get busy. Seated booth areas for families with tvs for the kids. Separate bar area to dining area. Toilets available. Staff are friendly and polite. Food is OK if you know what you want and been before there's certain dishes that are exceptional but you need to be mindful of some like their new Christmas menu. Proves are good they have good deals on too!. Plenty of parking out front
