About This Pub
Ah, the Garrick Arms – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its friendly charm right in the heart of Charing Cross. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the staff really stand out; they're full of kindness and joy, making every visit feel like you're among old friends, whether it's recommending a cracking apple cider or brewing up something special for a dodgy stomach. The food's a proper treat too – think mouth-watering burgers, pies, and even a halloumi wrap that folks rave about, all served in a cosy, family-friendly setting where you can bring the dog and soak up the atmosphere. They've got some brilliant deals for lunch and fun events like Pride nights, which add a bit of sparkle to the place. On the flip side, it's not perfect; I've heard a couple of mentions about certain dishes, like the fried chicken, not quite packing the punch in terms of flavour, and the prices sit at a moderate level, so it might not be the spot for a cheeky cheap night out. Plus, the hours can vary a bit, so you wouldn't want to turn up late and find it winding down earlier than expected. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers – go for the great service and grub, and you'll likely have a whale of a time, but keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and go the extra mile, like recommending local brews or even giving out keepsakes, which really makes you feel welcome.
-
The food is spot on, with classics like cheeseburgers, shepherd's pie, and fish and chips getting rave reviews for being hearty and full of flavour.
-
It's a lovely, family-friendly spot with a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a pre-theatre stop or just catching up with mates, and it's even dog-friendly so you can bring the pup along.
-
They've got some great deals, like the lunch specials, and fun events such as Pride celebrations, which add a nice community vibe.
-
The pub's in a prime location in Charing Cross, making it easy to pop in after exploring London, and it's got WiFi for those who need to stay connected.
Cons
-
One or two dishes might not hit the mark every time, like the fried chicken sandwich that some found a bit lacking in spice or flavour.
-
The opening hours can seem a tad inconsistent or early in places, so it's worth double-checking if you're planning a late-night pint.
-
As a moderate-priced venue, it might feel a smidge steep for everyday visits, especially if you're after something more budget-friendly.

Josh and Paula offered the greatest service with so much kindness and joy. Truly a phenomenal pub with a great atmosphere. The food was amazing- cheeseburger, shepherds pie, mushy peas and the BEST mashed potatoes. The best part was our server, Josh’s awesome checkered denim jeans. That alone made the visit well worth it. Cheers!!!
And a big TEXAS thank you 😊 🇺🇸
Great pub with even better people! Be sure to say hello to Marcus—he took such great care of his new American friends! He offered my husband a local beer and even gave him a glass as a keepsake—something we’d never get back in the States.
The entire experience was absolutely worth the stop… and yes, the food is delish too!
I rarely write any reviews, but the service was so extraordinarily good that they deserve writing one. My salad was delicious, and as I had a bit of a rough stomach they made me an angostura with lemon. ❤️
We went in at noon, it was almost empty, but filled up quickly. The fish&chips and hallumni wrap were great! You should also try the apple cider they recommend and they brew their own beer! The atmosphere and service are amazing, super friendly! Wholeheartedly recommend it! Köszönjük! 😊
Classic pub experience. Would definitely recommend! The staff was friendly and service was great. The cheese and bacon burger was quite good. Fried chicken sandwich was overall good but lacked flavor/spice. Chips were good and crispy. Overall, would recommend this stop!
