About This Pub
Ah, the Duke of York in Heaviley – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening or a quick stopover. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff really go the extra mile to make you feel at home, whether you're just popping in for a pint or sorting out a room for the night. The drinks selection is spot on, with all those classic cask ales and a proper beer garden that's brilliant on a sunny afternoon – I can picture myself there now, chatting away with friends. It's also dead handy if you're travelling with the family or the dog, as they're more than accommodating. On the flip side, though, the opening times are a bit on the late side, so if you're an early riser looking for a morning brew, you might be out of luck. And, fair play, a few folks have noted that the rooms can feel a touch warm without any cooling options, which could be a nuisance during those rare heatwaves we get. Overall, it's a solid spot for a good time, with that warm, traditional feel that's hard to beat – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother visit.

They've got clean and well-equipped rooms if you're looking for a handy overnight stay, especially if you're passing through near Manchester Airport.
-
It's dog-friendly and family-friendly, so you can pop in with the whole crew without any fuss.
Cons
-
Opening hours kick off a bit late in the day, like from 1 PM on weekdays, which might not suit those wanting an early tipple.
-
Some of the rooms can get a tad stuffy on hot days without a fan or better ventilation, as one chap mentioned after a sweltering stay.

Great value, Martin the landlord was super helpful and accommodating with our check in times, calling me to say he was happy to open up early so we could drop our bags and grab the key allowing us to head off for the start of Rockstock. Nice pub too with a friendly atmosphere and great pint of Madri. Thanks guys.
Fantastic traditional pub with great drink options.
A very friendly pub with great staff.
Thanks to the team, we held my dads Wake at the Duke Of York, the whole team were very friendly and welcoming and the food was lovely. Thank you for making a difficult day a little easier.
Nice pub, good selection of beers. Really friendly staff, nothing is an issue attitude. Felt very welcomed. Rooms clean well equipped, kettle with tea & coffee making facilities. I stayed on one of the hottest days. So, only complaint as being on the 3rd floor is a celling fan or a desk fan in the room, but it wouldn't be a problem the other 360 days of the year. Definitely would visit again;)
