About This Pub

Ah, Gallaghers – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this genuine old-school vibe that's hard to find these days, where you can pop in for a pint and end up chatting away with the locals like you're old mates. The drinks are a steal, which is always a win when you're out for a casual evening, and the staff seem to go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, adding to that homely feel. On the flip side, it might not be the spot if you're keen on catching every big sports event, as one person was a bit disappointed they missed a match. And it's not pretending to be anything fancy – it's straightforward and traditional, which is brilliant if that's your thing, but could feel a tad basic if you're after something more upscale. All in all, if you're in Carlisle and fancy a relaxed pint in a place that's full of character and good value, I'd say give it a go; it's got that warm, unpretentious charm that'll likely have you coming back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is spot on – it's a proper old-school pub where you can have a laugh and chat with friendly locals, just like in the good old days.
  • Drinks are incredibly affordable, which is a real treat these days – you'll be pleasantly surprised by the prices.
  • The staff are quick and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's a great spot for a casual catch-up; plenty of people mention it's perfect for talking and enjoying a pint without any fuss.
Cons
  • They might not always show the sports matches you're hoping for, like that Celtic game someone missed out on.
  • It's not the fanciest place around, so if you're after something more polished, it could feel a bit rough around the edges.

Erm it's kinda my local. I wouldn't go there if i didn't like it. It's a proper old school pub that used to be a bikers pub. Yeah its had a massive face lift and been improved in many ways. Yet it still remains a proper traditional pub. It aint posh by any means but if ya wanna laugh and a beer while still being able to hear its probs the best in town.

You never know what to expect when you go into an unvisited pub, I have to say that I was impressed here the staff a young lady was very quick to serve us and the locals were very welcoming and pleasant the most memorable part are the price's I don't know anywhere that sells drinks at these prices absolutely gobsmacked I paid £5.20 for a pint of Guinness and half a lager & black. Went for something to eat at Nandos then went back for the rest of the night, Great value and service 👌
