About This Pub

Ah, the Furnace Inn in Derby – what a lovely spot it is, isn't it? From chatting about the reviews, it's clear this place really shines with its ever-changing selection of craft beers and ales; you never know what gems you'll find on tap, and that's just brilliant for a beer enthusiast like me. The staff come across as genuinely friendly and helpful, always ready with a recommendation or a chat, which adds to that homely feel. And let's not forget the food – those Sunday cobs sound like an absolute treat, and the pizzas get high praise, all without breaking the bank. On the flip side, it's a shame it's not closer for some, as one person mentioned wishing it was their local, and the opening times do look a tad muddled, so you might want to double-check before heading out. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a bite, and with such glowing feedback, I'd say it's well worth popping in if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and enjoy the vibe!

Best place for beer in Derby. Ever-changed range of craft beer and ales, bar staff are great and always options for food. The Sunday cobs are delightful.

Great pub with a superb selection of craft beers. With regard to food, you won't go far wrong with the Sunday lunch Cob. A bargain at £6 and delicious. Price correct as of January 2025.

If you remember this being an old fashioned, slightly outdated pub think again, It's undergone a big change for the better in my opinion. Refurbished with a brighter more contemporary feel, it's still a traditional pub not a ultra modern bar, it has a similar feeling to Port Street Beer House in Manchester. It also has a nice beer garden, although be warned it can get insanely hot in the summer. They still have a good selection of cask beers; however, they have an emphasis on craft cans/bottles and keg. They probably have the best range of UK brewed craft beer in Derby with some seriously good beers on every single time. The range of cans is excellent with some limited editions and special releases in stock. They also have a wide variety of non beer drinks and non alcoholic drinks. Worth keeping an eye out for events happening, regular tap takeovers from the likes of Buxton, Northern Monk & Cloudwater etc, meet the brewer, Wednesday cheese night, open Mic, quizzes, and food nights, not forgetting beer festivals including the Spring bank holiday festival with food, live music and a massive range of cask beer....it's a yearly highlight to be honest. 12" fresh cooked pizza is available for around £9, Pepperoni, Margarita, and a couple of specials, as are cobs, pork pies, scotch eggs, crisps, peanuts, sweets etc. All the staff are friendly, as are the customers, it's also dog and child friendly especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
