You know, when I think about the Silk Mill in Derby, it just feels like one of those pubs you'd happily recommend to mates for a proper good time. They've nailed the drinks side with a brilliant range of real ales and artisan ciders that cater to all tastes, and the food is spot on – think inventive British dishes drawing from everything from Victorian classics to seaside favourites, with solid options for vegetarians too. It's got that cosy, welcoming vibe with both indoor and outdoor spots to settle in, and the staff are genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and quick to sort you out. Being dog-friendly is a nice touch as well, making it ideal for a casual day out. On the flip side, it can get a bit hectic at times, leading to waits for your meal, and there have been a few instances where things like orders got mixed up, which is a pity. Still, overall, it's a solid choice in the city centre – you get what you pay for in terms of quality, and I'd say it's worth popping in for a pint and a bite if you're in the area.

Great pub in the city center. Got both indoor and outdoor seating. Good variety of beer available and they also do a meal service other than just pub food. Drinks can be walk-in but if you are going for food, a reservation is recommended. Staff is friendly and fast which is always good to see. Ideal if you are looking for a pub without leaving the city center.

A stunning pub with a fun menu! A very last minute random choice of The Silk Mill Derby turned out to be a brilliant decision. Despite arrive close to the kitchen closing time, the staff were extremely accommodating and provided incredible service. We sat in the bar area, played the available board games and had the most unreal food. Cannot wait to go again to try more of the menu.

Shame we endured a mess-up when the staff forgot us, because it was otherwise great. They have a great choice of different beers and lovely food at reasonable prices, including some veggie options. The staff are good (except the forgetful ones). Nice outside area.

I came to visit on the 19th March 2025 around 12:45pm for a meeting about my community wellbeing allotment project and I was blown away with the refurbishment. My last visit was back in 2015. The food now is excellent and I fully enjoyed my meal as well as the beautiful surroundings. Friendly staff, great new menu, fantastic chefs and is a perfect place for any type of meetings or events.. I will be back for sure to try the pies next... Thanks again for an amazing visit.. Very nice restaurant and serving good food. Price is reasonable. Light menu’s portion is not light. Service is excellent. Joe initiatively brought us sauces after serving the food. He also offered our dog water and played with him too. He is so friendly. Will come again if I am at Derby.
