About This Pub
Ah, the Four Seasons – it's one of those local pubs in Basildon that feels like a proper community hub, especially if you're popping in for a relaxed meal or to cheer on the team during live sports. From what I've gathered, the food's a real winner; think juicy burgers and classic British dishes that hit the spot, and with deals like their 'tuck in for a tenner', it's easy on the wallet too. The atmosphere is cosy and inclusive, with handy facilities that make it accessible for all, whether you're with the family or just nipping in for a quiet one. Staff like Barry bring that warm, welcoming energy that makes you feel like a regular from the get-go. But, let's be honest, it's not all pints and cheers – there are times when service falls flat, with a few reports of snappy bar staff or mix-ups like tables not being set up properly, which can leave you a bit frustrated. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back night out; just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a grand time soaking up the vibe and enjoying the grub.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff can be absolutely brilliant, like that chap Barry who's full of energy and makes you feel right at home – it's those personal touches that really make a visit special.
-
They've got cracking deals on food, such as tucking into selected dishes for just a tenner on weekdays, which is brilliant value for hearty portions of pub classics and burgers.
-
It's a cosy spot that's easy to get to, with facilities like disabled access and a car park, making it welcoming for everyone, including families or those with mobility needs.
-
If you're into live sports, they've got Sky Sports and TNT, so it's a top choice for catching the big games with a pint in hand.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit inconsistent; some staff might come across as rude or snappy, which puts a dampener on things even if the rest are lovely.
-
There have been a few hiccups with bookings and timing, like tables not being ready or starters arriving before drinks, which can throw off your evening.
-
It seems like there might be occasional disappointments with menu changes or portions, as some regulars have noted things like kids' desserts disappearing from options.

I had the best birthday thanks to Barry, the most amazing bartender! From the moment we arrived, Barry made us feel so welcome and looked after us like VIPs. He’s not just brilliant at what he does – mixing delicious drinks with real flair – but he also brings such great energy and warmth. He went above and beyond to make the night feel extra special, and honestly, it wouldn’t have been the same without him. Thank you, Barry, for making my birthday unforgettable – you're a legend!
We often go here cause we find it cosy and easy for my mum who is in a wheelchair. Food is always nice and service and friendly staff. Manager is helpful to and always chatting to customers 😊 great prices.
Food was good but the young lady serving at the bar was rude and snappy. It wasn't unduly busy, no-one was waiting but she snapped at me every time I answered her questions. Having worked in hospitality for a few years I know this is not the expected behaviour of staff.
Other staff were all fine.

We've eaten here a few times over the years and pretty much always been happy with the service, food, and price.
We usually buy the 2 meals for a set price. Which is really good value, and you get a good-sized portion.
Disappointingly, we used to buy a dessert from the kids' menu . But they seem to have changed and worked out dearer. ice cream now has to be paid for separately, along with the brownie, for example. Whereas in the past, this came as a complete dessert and cost less.
I suppose like everything, things go up.
The food has always been tasty, though, and more than enough of it.
The staff seem friendly and approachable.
There is plenty of parking as well and disabled access.
We had a super lovely meal there most recently. Just 2 for the price of one ( chicken New Yorker), which was even better than the ones we've had before.
Would recommend for families on a budget or anyone looking for an affordable, healthier meal than going to Macdonalds 🙈!
We booked a table in advance however when we arrived it was clear that a table had not been set up for us and we were asked to just find a table that would fit us on.
We used the app to order which was fine however our starters came out before our drinks did. Our main courses were then brought out before we had finished our starters which meant we had no choice but to leave them half eaten.
Most of the food was okay however the cokes we ordered were all flat.
Overall we were quite disappointed with this hungry horse.
