About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about the Four Pears Pub & Restaurant – it's one of those hidden gems in Northampton that really hits the spot for a proper British pub experience. From what I've gathered from the reviews and their website, the food is where they shine brightest; people are raving about the steaks cooked to perfection over charcoal, those mouthwatering scotch eggs, and roasts that feel like a warm hug on a plate. It's all about bold flavours and seasonal ingredients, which keeps things feeling fresh and exciting. The atmosphere is just lovely too – picture yourself by a roaring fire in winter or soaking up the sun in their courtyard garden come summer; it's got that refined yet cosy country pub charm that makes you want to linger. They're spot on for special occasions, with options for private dining and accommodating larger groups, and the service comes across as genuinely friendly and attentive. But, to keep it real, it's not without its downsides; a few folks mentioned it getting a bit too hot and stuffy when things get busy, which could put a damper on your evening, and there was that one instance where a roast didn't quite live up to expectations. Still, with an overall rating pushing 4.5, it's clear they've got more wins than losses, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a solid meal and a good chat with mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with standout dishes like perfectly cooked steaks, incredible scotch eggs, and delicious roasts that really showcase quality British produce.
  • It's got a lovely, welcoming atmosphere – imagine a roaring fire on a chilly winter evening or a sunny courtyard garden in the summer, making it perfect for any season.
  • Great for groups and special occasions, with friendly service that handles large parties well and even offers tailored experiences for private hires.
  • They've got a good selection of drinks and menus that change with the seasons, keeping things fresh and exciting.
  • Overall, it's got a solid reputation with high ratings, and the new ownership seems to have breathed new life into the place.
Cons
  • The venue can get a bit too warm and stuffy when it's packed, especially for larger events, which might make for an uncomfortable visit.
  • There have been occasional slip-ups with the food, like one roast not quite hitting the mark, so it might not be perfect every time.
  • As a smaller spot, it can struggle with big crowds, leading to a busier bar area that might feel a tad overwhelming at times.

Went to the Four Pears for a business lunch yesterday and had an amazing steak! It was cooked to perfection and the only problem was I wanted more! I had to leave for a meeting but the person I was with had a sticky toffee pudding that he said was divine. Definitely go here if you haven’t already.

This was my third visit since October and whilst the food was good on the first 2 visits, the most recent visit was genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Everything was next level. The turkey and cranberry scotch egg was incredible and I don’t like scotch egg usually. The flat iron was seasoned with black garlic and I couldn’t get enough of it and it was cooked to perfection. The sticky toffee pudding was also awesome and I’ve had this before at the sister restaurant Ember. The staff are super friendly and very attentive. Ignore the negative reviews. You can’t please everyone. I would highly recommend a visit.

We went for a gym private hire Christmas party at the end of November. It's a small venue which I think struggled a little with such a large number of people - the heating was on which made it far too hot and stuffy. , There was a vegan canape option and a nice vegan roast. It was nice to see a more creative vegan pudding, but the texture was a little strange. Overall a nice evening and I'd like to visit on a normal trading day

### Wonderful Dining Experience Under New Ownership I recently dined at this restaurant with a friend, and it was nothing short of wonderful. The recent change in ownership has clearly brought a breath of fresh air to the place. The food was amazing and truly lived up to the hype. Each dish was a delight, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The new chef/owner has a real talent for creating great tasting food that exceeds expectations. I can't wait to see what new additions will appear on the menu in the future. If the current offerings are any indication, we're in for a treat. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!

Brilliant! They were able to accommodate our large party with great service. Everyone had roasts which were brilliant. The meat on one of the Beef Roasts was sub par but the others were great. The pork roast was the best I’ve had in a long time. A busy bar area with friendly atmosphere. Prices were reasonable. Would go again.
