About This Pub

Ah, Fountain Lane – what a lovely little find in the heart of Belfast! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just feels like a proper traditional pub, dishing out that warm, welcoming energy since way back in 1901. The food really steals the show; their menu has some refreshingly unique options that are well-prepared and full of flavour – think things like the Peppered Chicken Stack that leave you wanting more. Pair that with a cracking pint of Guinness and you're set for a great evening, whether you're chilling outside watching the world go by or catching the latest game on their big screens. The staff are generally brilliant, making you feel right at home with their attentive service, but do keep in mind that it can get a bit hit or miss when things pick up, like if you're in a larger group and they seem a tad short-tempered. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out – the good bits far outweigh the niggles, and it's got that authentic charm that makes you want to pop back for another visit.

Cons

One of the best mid-price restaurants I've eaten in anywhere, mainly because of its refreshingly unique menu items. Food was well prepared and tasty. Service was great (though we were the only customers in the restaurant section at an off-hour.) We had the Peppered Chicken Stack and the Fountain Lane Spiced Bag.

Friendly staff, good pint of Guinness. Nice to sit outside and watch the world go by. Pub has a couple of large screens if you want to watch any sport.

Wandered around belfast on a busy, noisy Saturday night. Came across this restaurant. Quiet and with space. Very attentive young staff, excellent food, good value. Well worth a visit

Quick and friendly service. The upstairs dining room looked nice, we sat in a booth near the window. We had a potato and leak soup, thick fries and grilled peppered chicken. All very tasty.

Went in the week between Christmas and New Year on our trip to Belfast. The outside looks cool but that’s about it. The restaurant is upstairs and once we entered the dining room, the service staff were rude, told us to wait for a table, as we had 5, when we asked if we could order drinks while waiting, we are rudely told no, when seated it took a while to order drinks and food. General vibe was inattentive. The food selection was okay, the corn ribs were good, probably the best thing with a good flavor. We ordered the large bread starter and it had basic white slider buns on it to dip into oil and a whipped butter style sauce. When we asked what the sauce was the wait staff simply replied, “I don’t know”. The fish and chips seem to be a good size but are tasteless and either overcooked or the oil needed changing. The chicken burger was okay, but lacked any really flavor. The fact that they charge £1 to switch your potato side( fries, chunky chips, mash etc) is crazy and meant we had to get creative with who wanted what and what was their assigned side on the menu and then when the food arrived we did swaps to avoid potentially a £5 addition for no reason. When we were finished, again the servers took ages to clear the plates and for the price I was disappointed. The restrooms weren’t clean, missing soap and paper. Overall a bit disappointing as this was my pick for lunch for our trip. To note- they responded to my review. Asked me to email them, I did and then they never emailed back.
