About This Pub
Ah, the Flying Childers – it's one of those pubs that really warms your heart when you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got that perfect mix of a classic British pub feel with a bit of restaurant-style flair, especially in their heated beer garden where you can soak up the sun with a pint and some tasty grub. The food stands out as a real winner; they've got a menu packed with favourites like hearty mains and desserts that hit the spot, plus it's great to see options for everyone, whether you're veggie, bringing the little ones, or even popping in with the dog. The staff are gems too – always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which makes the whole experience feel personal and enjoyable. On the flip side, it's not all smooth sailing; there have been a few mentions of hit-or-miss moments, like service that might drag on a bad day or the odd slip-up with orders, so it pays to keep expectations realistic. Overall, though, with a solid 4.0 rating from plenty of folk, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go for it on a sunny day for the beer garden, and maybe take advantage of those offers to make it even better. It's that kind of place where you leave feeling glad you went, with a balanced mix of the good and the not-so-good that keeps it real.

Popped in for a meal before an evening event nearby. No real expectations (in fact it was our second choice of pub as our first choice didn't open early enough) but very pleasantly surprised. Lovely interior, friendly staff and a very nice menu and meal. We both had main courses and desserts and although we were both very full at the end the food was excellent. If we are ever back in the area we will certainly look to revisit
We've been to the Flying Childers a few times now as it's conveniently 1/2 way between my friend and I. This visit was made particularly enjoyable by Freya, whose friendly banter and attentive service was much appreciated.
The food is always perfectly pleasant - but Freya deserves a special shout-out on this occasion :)
We popped in for our first yesterday, and had a lovely 3 course lunch. Staff were very friendly, food was beautiful and the place was even better very clean and well kept. I'd say it's one of the best pubs we have been to for a while. Lovely to see that dogs are welcome too.
Wonderful place! I came here with my family a few days ago, originally just for a couple of drinks at the bar, but after seeing the menu, we had to order food too. The menu is big with lots of great choices, and plenty for my veggie sister too, which is always lovely to see. The staff were awesome, very accommodating of my gluten intolerance, they even have a separate menu (again plenty of choices) which is a rare thing to see. i ended up opting for the steak which was beautiful and everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their experience. 10/10 would definitely recommend!
I have been here on a number of occasions over the last few months. On the previous times we have had an excellent experience which is why we have kept going back. Sadly this time it wasn’t so great and I Writing this review as this is 1st time I have been invited to do so. It was a family meal, we identified allergies to the server which were appropriately noted which is great. We had to explain the menu to the waitress which is not good. 1 meal was served so hot it burnt the mouth of my husband, he ordered drink which came with an added fly. See image, we asked for the dessert menus which never came. My draft fruit cider had an old mouldy smell to it. My meal and that of my other two family members was good they had steak and chicken chorizo and I had the beetroot and sweet potato burger. The over hot meal was the lasagna, a meal ordered previously without issues. The staffs response wasn’t great to our issues, I feel further training is required. The venue was clean and tidy with a nice atmosphere.
