About This Pub
Oh, Fishermans Wharf in Lowestoft is one of those spots that really pulls you in with its charm, isn't it? From what folks are saying, the staff are absolute stars – friendly and helpful, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates. The food's a highlight too; think big, tasty portions that leave you satisfied and thinking you've got a bargain, especially on a quiet Sunday lunch. And let's not forget those lovely views from the pier – perfect for unwinding with a well-poured pint. But, on the downside, it's a shame about the upkeep; some areas look a bit neglected, with filthy tables, dodgy toilets that could use a good sort-out, and general mess that might put you off. Plus, the music can crank up a notch, making it hard to hear your conversation over the tunes. All things considered, with that solid rating, it's still a great shout for a relaxed day out, as long as you go in with your eyes open to the rough edges – just keep it in mind if you're after something pristine.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
The food is spot on with generous portions and great value – perfect for a hearty meal without breaking the bank.
-
You've got those stunning views from the South Pier, ideal for a relaxing pint and soaking in the scenery.
-
The drinks are reasonably priced, like a cracking pint of Adnams Ghostship, and it's even dog-friendly for those bringing their furry mates.
Cons
-
The place can get a bit grubby, with messy tables and rubbish lying around, which takes away from the overall vibe.
-
Maintenance seems to be lacking in spots, like the toilets that are in a right state – leaking, smelly, and not up to scratch.
-
The music can be a bit too loud at times, making it tough to have a proper chat with your group over a drink.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Nice relaxing atmosphere and a top pint of ADNAMS ghostship
Visited on a Sunday lunchtime. We’d had a drink in there before but thought we’d try the food this time. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was lovely, and with big portions we felt it was really good value for money. Being a Sunday lunchtime in winter, it was fairly quiet, which suited us - there was still a nice, welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be going again.
What happened to this once vibrant pub?
It is now filthy! Glasses stacked outside on rotting unsafe tables, with no umbrellas and rubbish everywhere. The toilets are like something from Victorian Britain, leaking, broken lights and no toilet roll -they stink! The signage outside has fallen off and is stripped of paint. Staff seem to enjoy sitting behind the bar on the table nearby doing naff ALL apart from going out for a smoke. Where has the effort gone? This once bustling pub on the pier is now a ghost of its former self. It looks run down, it looks dirty and it looks like I wont be back!!
Stopped of for a pint with the my dog. Ended up staying all day. Excellent view, great prices and massive portions of well cooked grub. Next time I'm in Lowestoft, I'll pass through again.
Wonderful meal, staff polite and friendly. Very reasonably priced too, only negative was music was to loud! We struggled to hear each other speak. But all said we enjoyed our meals and will use again.
