About This Pub

Ah, the Errigle Inn on Ormeau Road – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local gem in Belfast, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; think tasty Sunday roasts and brunches that leave you with clean plates and happy bellies, all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The staff are spot on too, always friendly and quick to sort you out, which makes for a relaxed visit. And let's not forget the drinks – they've got a solid range of beers and cocktails that pair perfectly with the atmosphere, especially if you're into watching rugby or catching some live music. It's moderately priced, so you won't break the bank, and it's accommodating for different diets, like vegans, which is brilliant these days. On the flip side, though, I have to mention that the fish and chips didn't impress everyone, so it might not be the go-to for seafood lovers. Plus, it tends to draw in an older crowd on busier nights, which could make it feel a tad subdued if you're after something more upbeat, and it does get rammed on weekends, so planning ahead is a must. Overall, it's a solid spot for a good catch-up or a family meal, with that classic pub charm that keeps folks coming back – I'd say give it a try if you're in the area, but keep those expectations balanced for the full picture.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with delicious Sunday lunches and brunches made from fresh local ingredients – it's hearty and satisfying, perfect for a proper meal out.
  • Service is always friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks, including well-chilled Guinness, craft beers, and even cask ales on hand pumps, which is a real treat for beer enthusiasts.
  • The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with live music, sports events like rugby screenings, and a cosy fire on chillier days – it's a fantastic spot for catching up with mates or enjoying a family outing.
  • It's great value for money, especially with options for vegans and families, and they handle busy events well, making it a reliable choice for a good night out.
Cons
  • The fish and chips didn't quite hit the mark for some, so it might not be the best pick if that's what you're after.
  • It can attract an older crowd on Saturday evenings, which might make it feel a bit less vibrant if you're looking for a younger, energetic scene.
  • Things can get pretty packed on weekends, so you'll want to book ahead to avoid disappointment – it's popular for a reason, but that means it fills up fast.

The Sunday lunch menu on Easter day was ramped up and most delicious. The service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. There was a roaring fire to take the chill off the cold weather.

Very accommodating considering we had a vegan for lunch. The roast chicken dinner was the best I've ever tasted no lie! Everyone loved the food and service.

My wife, daughters and grandchildren went to the Errigle for brunch yesterday and it was a fantastic experience. The food was excellent, the service couldn't have been better and it was great value. Everybody, including the children, enjoyed it. It was clean plates all round. Do try their brunch menu. You will not be disappointed.

Popular and warmly welcoming bar/restaurant at Ormeau - Belfast South. Tempting but still not pricey menu, friendly staff, well chilled Guinness and more craft samples on tap. Good live music on regular basis. Can be pretty busy during weekends so resevation is recommended.
