About This Pub

Ah, Empire Theatre Champagne Bar – what a quirky little find in Burnley! From what I've gathered chatting about it, the Thai dishes are a real highlight; think mouth-watering mains and sharing platters that leave you wanting more, all served in this charming spot with a canal view that adds a nice touch of surprise. The drinks selection is spot on too, making it a fab place for a relaxed evening with mates. On the flip side, it's a shame that service can be hit or miss – some reviews mentioned feeling uncomfortable due to unfriendly staff, which might put you off if you're after a warm welcome every time. Prices are reasonable overall, but if you're comparing to other Thai joints, it might sting a bit more, and there are those little niggles like takeaway policies that could trip you up. All in all, it's worth popping in for the food alone, but go in with your eyes open and you'll likely have a great time; just keep an eye on the vibe and you'll be sorted for a balanced pub crawl adventure.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Thai food here is absolutely top-notch – several folks have raved about it being some of the best they've tried, with authentic flavours that really hit the spot.
  • The staff can be really friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome, especially when they're on form.
  • It's got a lovely atmosphere in an interesting building with a surprising view over the canal, plus a good selection of drinks to enjoy alongside your meal.
  • Prices are quite affordable for what you get, so it's a great value for a night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • Customer service isn't always consistent; some staff have been described as rude or intimidating, which can put a damper on the evening.
  • There might be a few restrictions, like not allowing kids to collect takeaways, which could be a hassle if you're in a rush.
  • It seems a bit pricier compared to other Thai spots around, so if you're watching your wallet, you might find better deals elsewhere.
  • Not every visit is perfect, with a couple of reviews mentioning that the food didn't quite live up to expectations on those occasions.

Ordered a 60 quid takeaway for collection , sent my 11 year old in for it and they were told they’re not allowed in without an adult to collect my food ! Food wasn’t half as good as my regular Thai (yuis Thai kitchen) which was closed on the day a lot more expensive aswell same order as I usually get at yuis but 15 quid more and nowhere near as good food

The food was one of the best iterations of thai food i have had over here, and the alcohol selection was varied. The staff were very friendly, and the building itself was interesting and had a very nice and unexpected view over the canal. Alongside this, the bill was very affordable. Will be going again

Amazing place, hidden little gem I’m surprised more people don’t know about this place. The food was one of the best Thais I’ve ever had, thank you!

Food and cocktails nice. Good service from the Englishman and 2 x young Thai ladies. The rest of the staffs customer service was absolutely diabolical. Laughing and staring, acting intimating and generally making us feel uncomfortable. Even one member of staff giving "dead eyes" to us. For that reason we won't be visiting again. Disgusting and disgraceful especially considering we spent a lot of money with them to celebrate a milestones birthday. Vegetables used in the food are frozen vegetables but other than that the food was very nice especially the sharing platters.
