About This Pub

Ah, the Eagle and Sun – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this lovely vibe where you can pop in for a hearty meal after a canal walk or a day at the caravan site. The food really steals the show; people are going on about how delicious the carvery is, or that vegetable Red Thai curry that's freshly cooked and full of flavour. And the staff? They're spot on, always quick with a smile and making sure everything runs smoothly. It's dead handy being dog-friendly too, so if you're out with your pooch, it's a winner. On the flip side, though, that Perspex screen around the food area has rubbed a few the wrong way – it sounds a bit over the top and takes away from the relaxed feel you'd expect in a pub. Plus, if you're aiming for the carvery, make sure you're not too late, as it can wrap up early and leave you scrambling for options. All in all, it's a solid spot for a pint and a bite, with more highs than lows, but I'd say it's worth keeping those little annoyances in mind so you can plan a great visit. If you're in the area, give it a go – you might just end up as a regular!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely spot on – reviewers rave about the carvery and dishes like the vegetable Red Thai curry, which are fresh, tasty, and just what you need after a walk or cycle.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are really friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a stroll with your furry mate and fancy a pit stop.
  • Great location near canal paths and caravan sites, perfect for a relaxing drink or meal after some fresh air.
  • With a solid 4.3 rating from plenty of folks, it's clear this place knows how to keep things enjoyable and welcoming overall.
Cons
  • One downside is that Perspex screen in front of the food stations – it put off at least one visitor, making the setup feel a bit like a prison canteen rather than a cosy pub.
  • Timing can be an issue; if you arrive late, you might miss out on the carvery or find it winding down, which could leave you a tad disappointed.
  • From what I've seen, there might be occasional inconsistencies, like varying closing times on Sundays, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.

Staying at a local caravan & motorhome site so walked up to pub for drink & meal. Food was lovely. I had vegetable Red Thai curry and my husband had the carvery. Both meals were perfect, freshly cooked and very tasty! and it’s dog friendly too. We will definitely eat here again.

Staff really nice. Location is good. I think we caught the carvery just as it was finishing so I think it would have been better if we had arrived earlier.

My cycle destination along the canal path from Worcester. Carvery was on so I had a carvery sandwich. Just what I needed to fuel me up for the journey back! Great service and prompt to 🙂

We stopped off during a canal walk for some lunch and really enjoyed our time here. We both had the roast pork ciabatta which was great, although we could have probably shared one. Food was delicious and the customer service from the two girls behind the bar was very good. Highly recommend.

I have reviewed but just read a response from manger about the awful Perspex screen infront of food stations. She said most diners like it for hygiene. Absolute rubbish.. no other carvery does this.. its feels more like a prison canteen. Childish awful experience. Obviously run by people with no clue of customer service or any restaurant experience. I’m an adult I can pick my own veg and pour my own gravy and not have food slopped and piled up on top of each other then drowned in gravy.. get a grip
