About This Pub

Ah, the Duke of Clarence – it's one of those places that really hits the spot if you're after a proper British pub experience without straying too far from home. From what I've gathered from chats with others, the food is a standout, with fresh, seasonal dishes and cracking cocktails that elevate the classics without getting too fancy. I love how the staff make everyone feel welcome, whether you're there for a solo pint or a family do, and that garden is just the ticket on a nice day, tucked away from the hustle. It's dead handy for a post-walk refuel near Bushy Park, and being so dog-friendly means you can bring the whole gang along. On the downside, it does close up a bit early sometimes, so if you're in the mood for a lingering evening, you might find yourself heading elsewhere. Still, it's a solid choice for good times and great value – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, and remember to book if you don't want to miss out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant, with fresh and delicious British classics that offer great value, like their weekday lunch menu at just £13 for two courses.
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive, always going the extra mile to make you feel right at home – shout out to the likes of Connor and Julius for their top-notch service.
  • It's a lovely spot for gatherings, with a charming garden that's perfect for sunny afternoons, and it's super dog-friendly with its own menu for furry friends.
  • The atmosphere is warm and inviting, whether you're nipping in for a quick break, a meal after a walk in nearby Bushy Park, or an evening with mates.
Cons
  • The operating hours can feel a bit limited, often wrapping up earlier in the evening, which might not suit those after a late-night pint.
  • It tends to get quite busy, so you might need to book ahead to secure a table and avoid any disappointment.

We have been coming to The Duke Of Clarence (hampton hill) for the last few years. Always had amazing service from Manager: Julius. Bar: Brad. On the floor :Sam Vaishnavi. Just to mention some of the staff. All the staff come across very helpful, welcoming. The chef goes out of the way to deliver delightful food. The only pub in the area that looks, and is clean with good seating. Customer service from all the staff is amazing! Gang keep up the good work!👍🏾

I had a lovely dining experience at The Duke of Clarence in Hampton Hill. My mother and I tried their weekday lunch menu, which is just £13 for two courses which is exceptional value for a gastropub. For starters, I had the Pork Bon Bons, served with their house-made apple sauce, which was easily the best apple sauce I’ve ever had. I even asked for some extra, and they brought it over without hesitation. For my main, I ordered the Pork Porchetta with mashed potatoes and gravy. I made the mistake of not specifying that I’d prefer a vegetarian gravy instead of the beef-based one. When the dish arrived, I realised my error and asked if the gravy contained beef, which it did. I accepted that it was my mistake and said it was fine and I wouldn’t eat it, but without hesitation, our server, Julius, insisted that the chefs prepare a fresh one with a vegetarian gravy. I was genuinely impressed by his hospitality and can’t praise his service highly enough. The restaurant had a lovely ambience, and we particularly enjoyed the open view of the kitchen. The service was 10/10, and the food was outstanding. I’ll definitely be returning! Julius was truly incredible and made the experience!

Back in September 2024 for a family birthday, my better half. Fantastic meal out. Lovely food, Generous portions, very dog friendly (their own menu!). Attentive staff. Free birthday pudding and birthday serenade. Just spot on. Previously ... Dropped into the newly rebooted Duke of Claremce. It's been reopened three weeks, reborn from the tired Bloated Mallard. What a change. Attention to detail, Listening to the manger taking to the new staff. Quite high-end, but nice to be attended in a pub .. "can I get you another pint?" "Sure!" Pardon Peppers and Calamari, twice the amount expected. Anyway ... all good. A great start. Lovely Sunday lunch today. Great food.
