About This Pub
Ah, the Duke of Clarence – it's one of those pubs that just feels right, you know? Tucked away in South Kensington, it's got this warm, cosy charm that makes you want to settle in for the evening. I love how they've nailed the food side of things; their fish and chips and burgers are absolute winners, and don't even get me started on that Sunday roast – it's hearty, flavoursome, and uses the best local produce. Plus, if you're a sports enthusiast like me, it's heaven with those five massive screens blasting live games; I remember sinking a few pints there during the Six Nations, and the atmosphere was electric. The staff are genuinely lovely, always making sure you're looked after, which really adds to the experience. On the flip side, it's not ideal if you've got toddlers in tow – no kids' menu or changing areas means it might not be the most family-friendly spot. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a taste of that classic London pub vibe, as long as you plan around the little ones.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely cosy and welcoming, making it feel like a proper neighbourhood spot where you can unwind with a pint.
-
The food is spot on – think cracking fish and chips, juicy burgers, and what many say is the best Sunday roast in Kensington; it's all made with top-notch British ingredients.
-
Staff are super friendly and attentive, always ready with a smile and quick service, even when the place is buzzing.
-
It's a brilliant spot for sports fans, with five big screens showing live action from Sky and BT Sports, perfect for catching the big games.
-
Handy location near Earls Court and South Kensington tube stations, making it easy to pop in after exploring the area's museums or the Royal Albert Hall.
Cons
-
It might not be the best choice if you're with very young children, as there's no dedicated kids' menu or changing facilities in the bathrooms.
-
While the pub's great for adults, some might find the focus on sports and traditional pub fare a bit limited if you're after something more varied or family-oriented.

A very cosy neighbourhood pub. Best fish and chips and burgers we had during the whole trip. Staff super friendly. We will be coming back for Sunday roast!
Didn’t eat here, but did sink a few pints whilst watching France giving Ireland a Six Nations whipping. Classy pub with a great South Ken vibe.
Lovely staff, delicious food. Met friends with very young children (4 babies under 2). While the pub does have high chairs and will prepare child sized plates of certain dishes of note there is no separate kids menu, and no changing table or similar is available in the bathroom, so it’s perhaps not the most child friendly place in the neighbourhood, but overall we had a good experience.
Wonderful experience as our first pub dinner to start our trip in London. We were able to make a same day reservation, enjoyed friendly service and delicious food, and had a great table on Quiz night! The staff were very welcoming and attentive, even with a full house. The Duke burger and Fish and Chips were served quickly, hot and full of flavour. I chose Young's Winter Warmer to sip on while we answered trivia. Highly recommend a trip here.
Fantastic pub for lunch or dinner (we had both, visited twice). Staff were lovely and welcoming, food was traditional and impeccably executed, and decor was quintessentially English pub! An absolute must to visit!
