About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about the Cunliffe Arms – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a proper get-together. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a standout; folks rave about the excellent dishes, particularly if you're after gluten-free choices, and the menu seems packed with tempting options that won't break the bank. The staff really make the place shine, with their polite and cheerful manner turning a simple meal into a memorable one. It's got that easy-going atmosphere where you can unwind with a drink in hand, and it's open seven days a week, which is handy for spontaneous plans. On the flip side, it does seem like the food quality can vary a touch – one person mentioned a starter that was just alright on a recent visit, even though the rest was spot on. And while it's got a Facebook page, I had a bit of bother accessing more details online, so you might want to pop in or give them a ring first. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone in Wrexham looking for good value and a friendly face, but like any spot, it's worth keeping expectations realistic for the odd off day.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely brilliant, with plenty of excellent options for gluten-free diners and a menu that's got something for everyone.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a lovely relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a casual catch-up over drinks or a meal.
  • Prices are spot on for a good night out – inexpensive and offering great value, especially with those tasty three-course deals.
  • Drink selection is spot on, with loads of choices to suit all tastes, and it's open every day from midday till late.
Cons
  • There might be a bit of inconsistency with the food; one visit had a starter that was just okay, even if the rest was top-notch.
  • The online presence is a tad limited, as their website didn't load properly for me, which could make it tricky to check menus or events in advance.

Visited with my husband late November 2024. We both ordered the 3 course week day offer It was outstanding. All 3 courses were a bit 10/10 Went there today 28th March 2025. We both ordered the 3 course meal although it was a Friday the staff allowed this. The starter was ok Main meal. I had a turkey roast It wasn't nearly as nice as the one I had back in November Mash was mediocre. Stuffing was not nice & the gravy tasted like it was out of a tub. My daughter ordered the fish chips & peas. Fish was covered in oil and looked like it was from a box you would buy in Iceland. Not fresh at all. I had the lemon meringue pie, again this was nothing like the one I had in November which was really light & so tasty, The one I was presented with today was a really cheap version you'd get from a discount shop, not nice at all. My daughter had chocolate fudge cake which in all honesty said it was delicious. After recommending this place to go to today I was so disappointed. Maybe just a bad day 😕 Or with prices going up there using cheaper products. Such a shame.

After not visiting The Cunliffe Arms for a number of years, my partner and I enjoyed a tasteful meal here recently. Special shout out to our server who was Amy, she was polite, cheerful and made us feel very welcome during our meal. Based on this, we would most definitely return. We won't leave it so long until our next visit!

UPDATE!!!!! Nothing says better about a place when a review is taken so seriously that the meat ladies hand deliver a carvery!! Not a hound left behind! Couldn't believe my luck!! Definitely coming back!!! I come here most days after an afternoon stroll. Chasing squirrels works up a bit of a thirst. Sundays are usually my favourite day. The carvery is beautiful and presented so well. HOWEVER! Today my carvery didn't even show up. Despite my usual attempts to attract meat lady, she merely walked passed. I was so annoyed I had to nap. But luckily I finally received a carvery at home. Just beef though. Not the usual fair of mixed meats. Will probably come back, but definitely gone off meat lady. Will tap louder next time x
