About This Pub
You know, when I think about Crafty's, it's got that real heartfelt appeal that makes it stand out in Darlington. The folks running the place are proper beer aficionados, and they've put together an impressive lineup of ales, whiskies, and wines that cater to all tastes – it's the kind of spot where you can try something new and really enjoy it. The atmosphere is spot on too, nestled in a historic yard that gives it this cosy, timeless feel, and the team are always up for a friendly natter, which adds to the fun. Most people I've heard from absolutely love it for that genuine, community vibe. But, to be fair, there are a couple of niggles; the opening times aren't always spot on, and with it only being open a few days, it can be tricky to catch them at the right moment. Still, if you're after a relaxed pint or a special dram, it's well worth seeking out – just give it a bit of thought beforehand to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The selection of ales, whiskies, and wines is absolutely spot on – it's a haven for enthusiasts with unique options that really hit the mark.
-
The staff and owners are so friendly and knowledgeable; they make you feel right at home and are always up for a good chat.
-
It has a fabulous atmosphere in a historic spot like Buckton's Yard, which adds a lovely touch of charm and makes every visit feel special.
-
Overall, it's a proper little gem that's clearly loved by visitors, with plenty of praise for the welcoming vibe and great drinks.
Cons
-
Opening times can be a bit unpredictable, which might leave you hanging if you're not careful – it's worth checking in advance to avoid disappointment.
-
It's only open a few days a week, so it might not be the easiest place to pop into spontaneously, which is a shame for such a nice spot.

Recent Reviews
Proper little gem of a bar, run by beer enthusiasts, for beer enthusiasts, with some excellent wine and whisky too. Lovely owners and staff too, with plans to make it even better.
Best pub in Darlington over the last 3-4 years, and that's some achievement given the number of lovely little pubs in town. To people giving 1 star reviews based on petty little things like the pub opening an hour later than planned...how about showing some support for small businesses working hard in a difficult climate? I've never been made to feel so welcome in a pub, had so many brilliant beers, and got to know lovely people. Thanks for the memories!
The review is based solely on the fact that the pub didn't open until 5pm today, in spite of it being shown as 4pm opening up to 2:30pm on the day. We arrived at just after 4pm, along with another group of three who also thought it opened at 4pm. It's no use changing the opening times after the event. Disappointing. Previous visits have always been excellent.
Love this place, staff are really friendly and always open for a chat. Good selection of alcoholic drinks where you can buy individual and unique beers to wet your palate. Great atmosphere and being one of the yards, it's in Bucktons Yard, you will be going into a place steeped in history.
Great find this little bar. Fab atmosphere and friendly staff. Excellent range of beers on tap.
