About This Pub
Ah, The Tanners Hall – it's one of those classic Wetherspoon spots that you can always rely on for a solid evening out in Darlington. I have to say, what really stands out is how affordable everything is; you can tuck into a delicious rump steak or a packed breakfast without worrying about the bill, and it's all served up in a space that's surprisingly charming with its vintage touches and clean layout. The service through the app is a real winner too – it's quick and hassle-free, and the team there are pretty accommodating if something's not quite right, like when they swapped out a cold meal without any drama. On the flip side, it's a shame that food doesn't always arrive hot, and I've heard a few grumbles about lukewarm coffee or toilets that could do with a spruce-up. Parking might be a bit of a faff as well, so if you're heading by car, plan ahead. All in all, it's a friendly place that's worth a visit for a relaxed catch-up with friends, as long as you keep expectations realistic for a busy pub – the good bits definitely outweigh the niggles, making it a go-to for an easy-going night.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The prices are spot on for a budget-friendly night out – you get a lot for your money, making it ideal for a casual meal or a few drinks without breaking the bank.
-
The food hits the spot, with tasty options like that succulent rump steak or a hearty breakfast that's generous on the plate and full of flavour.
-
Service is quick and easy via their app, which makes grabbing a table and ordering a breeze, and the staff are generally friendly and sort out any issues without fuss.
-
The atmosphere is clean, tidy, and quite charming with its vintage design elements, like those winding pink lines and nice lamps, giving it a welcoming feel.
-
It's reliably open late and offers a fresh vibe, perfect for popping in with mates for a chat and a pint.
Cons
-
Some dishes can turn up a bit cold, like the beans or eggs in the breakfast, which takes the edge off an otherwise lovely meal.
-
Drinks aren't always served piping hot, such as coffee that might just be warm rather than steaming.
-
The toilets could use a bit more attention to keep them up to scratch, as they've been described as needing a good clean.
-
Parking is a tad limited outside, so you might end up circling the block to find a spot, which isn't ideal if you're driving.

Really busy Easter weekend in Darlington, so was really happy to be able to enjoy my favourite Wetherspoon's succulent rump steak with Mediterranean Salad!!
Lovely spoons with its charm. Quick table service by app. Stepped in for a drink with friends. Very nice and fresh atmosphere. Clean and tidy place. No any complaint while our visit here. Toilets very clean. All boxes ticked and happily recommend
Ordered breakfast, it was tasty and plenty on the plate, sausage, hash browns was nice and hot, but beans egg bacon was not they were warm, did enjoy the food, the coffee was just warm I like a hot coffee but overall price was really good and food was lovely.
This was a brilliant pub for dinner, with a lush design across the interior! This is done through the windy pink lines on the separators and the olden white plus brown layout of the ceiling, vintage lamps add a nice feel and counter is well-presented too. I had a tasty, hot Ramen Noodle Bowl with a pint of Leffe's, sitting at comfortable red seating by a circular table easily fitting two of us!
Fantastic staff and quick service ,unfortunately, our meals came out cold, but the staff changed them and gave us a pudding as an apology.Toilets were downstairs, which was a bonus, but they were in need of a good clean!!! There was not a lot of parking outside, but we did manage to find a space in a street round the corner, but you can only park there at certain times.Worth a visit if you're in the area or like me a Spoons fan.
