About This Pub

You know, when I think about Craft Bar, it just brings a smile – it's one of those places that really nails the craft beer scene in Scarborough. The drinks are spot on, with this amazing array of beers including sours, stouts, and even gluten-free choices, plus some tasty snacks and dog treats that make it feel so inclusive. The staff are an absolute delight, always chatting away and sharing tips, which adds to that warm, community feel. And let's not forget the games; they've got chess and more to keep everyone amused, whether you're popping in solo or with the family. On the downside, if craft beers aren't your thing, you might find the drink selection a tad narrow compared to a classic pub. Oh, and it's a shame there's no website to peek at beforehand – makes planning a visit a bit trickier. All in all, though, it's a hidden gem that's well worth a stop if you're in the area, and I'd happily recommend it for a chilled-out pint with mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The selection of craft beers is absolutely brilliant, with a huge variety including sours, stouts, gluten-free options, and even cans for take away
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with a smile and great recommendations
  • It's got a fun, welcoming vibe with loads of games like chess to keep things entertaining, making it ideal for a relaxed evening
  • They're dog-friendly and family-oriented, with decent snacks on offer, and it's conveniently located near Scarborough railway station
Cons
  • The focus is heavily on craft beers, so if you're after more traditional drinks like standard lagers or wines, options might feel a bit limited
  • Without a website, it's not always easy to check out the menu or events in advance, which could be a minor hassle

We were up for a family event this week and were made very welcome on a misty Sunday evening. Fabulous selection of beers (including some gluten free) and both Cask and Keg to choose from. Knowledgable friendly staff and customers. Highly recommended.

Brilliant selection of craft beers, I was surprised at how many pumps they had on. Staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and welcoming. Took my (older) kids and they entertained themselves playing chess, they had loads of other games to play. Several fridges full of cans as well so there's even more to choose from. Will definitely be returning if we visit Scarborough again. Great atmosphere in the bar as there were quite a few in (Friday night) wasn't too crowded tho.
