About This Pub

Ah, the Coy Carp in Harefield – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air, doesn't it? Picture yourself in a lovely spot overlooking the lakes and canals, where you can tuck into some seriously tasty grub that's all about those classic country flavours with a seasonal twist. The team there are just brilliant, always on hand with a smile and that extra touch that makes you feel well looked after, whether you're popping in for a quick lunch or a relaxed evening. It's spot on for anyone who loves a bit of nature, with its gardens and proximity to walks, and it's super welcoming for dogs too, which is a real plus if you're out exploring. On the flip side, I've heard a few grumbles about the beer not always being at its best, so you might want to double-check that if you're a beer enthusiast. Prices are about what you'd expect for a place like this, but they can mount up, so it's good to plan ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice for a get-together with mates – the good bits far outweigh the minor niggles, and you'd be hard-pressed not to have a lovely time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely delicious – think hearty favourites and seasonal dishes that are fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented, making every meal feel like a treat.
  • The staff are an absolute delight; they're welcoming, attentive, and go the extra mile to make you feel right at home, which really elevates the whole experience.
  • It's got this stunning location with beautiful gardens overlooking the Pynesfield Lakes and the canal, perfect for enjoying a drink outside or by a cosy log fire on chillier days.
  • Being dog-friendly and near lovely walking spots, it's a brilliant spot if you're out for a stroll and fancy a pit stop with your furry friend.
Cons
  • Some folks have mentioned the beer lines could do with a bit more regular cleaning, which might affect the taste of your pint now and then.
  • With moderate prices, it can add up if you're planning a full meal and a few drinks, so it's worth keeping an eye on the budget for a casual outing.

We had such a brilliant experience thanks to Meg, Kara and Jess! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, full of flavour and beautifully presented. What really made our visit stand out though was the service. The team were welcoming, friendly and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after. They were also fantastic with our kids — patient, kind and made them feel really special, which made the whole experience even better for us as a family. Massive thanks to all three — we’ll definitely be back!

All round excellent experience I stopped in for a drink and had the starter deal of 3 starters for £12 it was a supper in its own right and all 3 were perfectly cooked my drinks were perfectly chilled and atmophere was incredible I sat out side next to the river it was raining but the large patio umbrella kept me dry only dowside was i got a £100 parking fine in the post for the pub parking area however the owner immediately cancelled when i called to complain

Only came for a drink so food is rated in reference to the beer. With a good selection of mainstream larger to choose from, it was nice to not take long to decide what to drink. Unfortunately though, this pub needs to clean their lines more often. Whilst the staff were happy to pour fresh pints for me a few times, making their service great, there was repetitively bits of build up in my glass after every pour. It’s a shame that a pub that must be held to such a high regard in the area lets this slip. Inside was nice and clean, outside needed some cleaning but on a sunny day I understand that it would have been busy during peak hours.

Had a really lovely afternoon at The Coy Carp on Sunday. Had booked for four but two dropped out, which did not present a problem at all and we were seated straight away. Had a great table and were looked after really well - all staff were friendly and helpful, especially Elliot who couldn’t have done more. Excellent menu, really is something for everyone. I had the vegetarian roast and my husband had roast turkey. Generous portions and everything was delicious ! Looking forward to our next visit : x

Came to The Coy Carp for lunch. Our waitress Megan was incredible, so attentive and kind, answered all of our questions and made sure that she was available when we wanted anything else. The food was incredible, atmosphere was lovely and the decor is super cute. Thank you Megan and team at The Coy Carp for a great experience!
