About This Pub
Ah, Cottage Spring – it's one of those pubs that really captures the heart of a good old British local, with its solid 4.6 rating speaking volumes about what it gets right. I have to say, the real ales are a standout; they're served well and offer some proper treats for anyone who enjoys a pint with character, making it a top pick if you're into that sort of thing. The atmosphere is just lovely, all traditional and comfortable, and it's great that they welcome dogs, so it's perfect for a casual outing. The food, like those big cobs, is straightforward and satisfying, adding to the charm. On the flip side, though, it's not without its downsides – the drink selection is pretty beer-focused, so if you're after wine or something different, you might be out of luck. We've heard tales of damp chairs and slow service for little extras, which can put a damper on the experience, and it does seem to wind down early, with staff perhaps eager to call it a night. Overall, it's a gem for a relaxed evening with mates, but go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The real ales are absolutely spot on – a fantastic selection that any ale lover would appreciate, with some rare finds like Brew 11.
-
It has that classic traditional pub atmosphere, making it a cosy spot to relax and enjoy a pint.
-
It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop-off with your four-legged mate.
-
The food hits the mark with nice big cobs and simple grub that's just what you want from a local pub.
-
The people and staff create a welcoming vibe, with some reviews raving about how brilliant everyone is.
Cons
-
Drink options are a bit limited; you might struggle to get something like a glass of wine if that's your preference.
-
There can be the odd maintenance mishap, like sitting on a chair that's soaked through, which isn't ideal.
-
Service might drag a little for simple things, such as waiting ages for mustard with your food.
-
It tends to empty out early, and you might find the bar staff starting to wrap up before the official closing time, which can feel a tad rushed.

Quiet busy when we got here. Do a nice choice of real ales but not much else. Couldn't even get a glass of wine. Sat on a chair that was soaked through with beer so my trousers were soaked. Pub emptied quite early and lady behind bar was putting chairs up by 10.30.
Without doubt or question, the best pub in the world: Fantastic beer and brilliant people. It does not get any better.
Delightfull place never knew existed. Like all BCA pubs it keeps real ales and serves them well. Last time seen Brew 11 must have been 30 odd years ago, had to have despite only pale ale choices.
Its also dog friendly.
Very comfortable place with a nice atmosphere, what I would call a traditional pub. good beer and nice big cobs ,like this place alot.
Another good Black Country Ales pub.
I had a pint and half and a good cheese cob. I asked for mustard and waited 10 minutes for it. Probably best to leave a jar near the cobs
