About This Pub

Ah, the Copper Beech Pub – it's one of those reliable locals in Darlington that you can't help but appreciate for its straightforward charm. Picture this: you're settling in for a meal, and the food really shines through with its generous portions and flavours that hit the spot, whether you're opting for a classic parmo or something a bit more adventurous like their Thai options. The staff are generally spot on, creating that homely vibe that's ideal for family dinners or even booking for events, and it's all at prices that won't leave you feeling short-changed. But, let's be honest, it's not flawless – I've come across a few tales of meals that weren't served hot enough or service that fell a bit flat, which can put a damper on things if you're not in the mood to overlook it. Overall, though, with its solid reputation, it's a place I'd recommend giving a go if you're after a good, honest pub experience; just pop in with an open mind and you're likely to walk away with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious with huge, hearty portions that leave you feeling well satisfied and ready for seconds – or maybe just a doggy bag!
  • Friendly and welcoming staff who go the extra mile, especially with families, making it a lovely spot for a relaxed get-together.
  • A great variety on the menu, from classic parmos and Sunday roasts to authentic Thai dishes, so there's always something to tempt your taste buds.
  • Brilliant value for money, with meals that are both plentiful and affordable, perfect for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • There have been a few grumbles about food not always being piping hot, like reheated dishes that could do with a bit more care.
  • Service can be hit or miss at times, with some reports of staff being a tad brusque or not quite up to scratch on busier days.

Food is great, huge portions and tasty. Menu has a good selection and if there's room for dessert they are to die for! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

Booked in for a family meal. Good service, very friendly helpful lady , and lovely with my young granddaughter. Food was all nice, hot and tasty , no long wait. Pudding was also nice, including the one we took home with us as we were too full at the time.

Went to meet up with family, the meal was reheated the pastry was like a brick, my partners food was cold, as for the service, our waitress was nothing short of bad mannered, after ordering a double gin she dropped the measuring optic in my glas and proceeded to fish it out with her fingers, didn't bother to wash her hands first.. when I said I'd like a fresh drink I got the answer 'it's alcohol, it's like disinfectant' the measures were also short so make sure you get what you pay for! I was disgusted, I lived this place before the new owners took over, we always had brilliant food and service... sorry that's not the case anymore

Lovely Sunday dinner here with my son and daughter in law. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I'm vegetarian and I had well done chips with gravy, Yorkshire puddings and mint sauce The chips are very good when well cooked. The Yorkshire puddings were very good as well.

Called in, one adult one child for an evening meal mid-week. Was quite busy, we were asked if we had pre booked a table, and I answered no, the waitress managed to find us a table for two. Food was delivered and prepared quite quickly, so overall, it was a very efficient and speedy service. Menu prices were reasonable, too. However, the food wasn't overly great, in my opinion. They have a lovely outdoor front area, which is covered. (Didn't see out of the back). The car park was quite small and tight. Toilets weren't the cleanest, which kind of let the establishment down.
