About This Pub

Oh, the Cocked Hat in Coventry is one of those pubs that really grows on you – it's got that cosy, community feel where you can pop in for a pint and end up staying for the evening. I love how the staff are so attentive and cheerful; they've got stories to share and they're quick to help out, like tracking down a lost item or keeping your glass topped up. The food's a real highlight too, with hearty options like burgers and breakfast that feel just right for a relaxed meal, and it's all at a price that won't break the bank. Plus, that beer garden is a gem on a nice day, ideal for catching up with mates over a drink. But let's be honest, it's not flawless – you might occasionally get a dish that's not cooked to perfection, and if you're staying overnight, the rooms could use a refresh to sort out things like the bathroom. Still, overall, it's a solid spot for good times and a bit of nosh, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant, always going the extra mile to make you feel welcome and sort out any little issues.
  • The food hits the spot with classic British dishes like burgers and steak, and it's great value for what you get.
  • There's a lovely beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint or two.
  • The atmosphere is warm and inviting, just what you'd hope for in a proper pub.
  • It's in a handy spot with easy access and facilities like parking and WiFi, making it convenient for a quick visit or a longer stay.
Cons
  • Some meals might not come out quite right, like an overcooked steak now and then.
  • If you're booking a room, the facilities could do with a bit of updating, such as the bathroom feeling a tad worn.
  • The nearby flyover might add a bit of background noise, which could spoil the peace if you're after a quiet evening.

The hotel was in a great location, attached to a pub which served a lovely breakfast in the morning and had a nice beer garden. We found the staff to be very nice and particular thanks to a wonderful lady called Emma who went above and beyond to locate some lost jewellery of mine and return it to me at no cost to myself. This shows what honest, fabulous and kind staff this hotel has! Thanks again guys, we will be back.

Liam and Kai were absolute legends! Made us feel very welcome. Food was unreal from what you expect from a pub. Always onnit with refills and made sure we had a great time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A Local Gem with Great Vibes Dropped by The Cocked Hat recently and had an absolutely brilliant time. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming – exactly what you'd want from a proper pub. Plenty of cozy spots to sit, great selection of drinks (from local ales to classic cocktails), and the food hits the spot – hearty, tasty, and reasonably priced. Special shoutout to Ellie behind the bar – she’s an absolute star. Friendly, efficient, and always up for a quick chat or a recommendation if you're undecided. You can really tell the staff care about making it a great experience for everyone. Whether you're popping in for a casual pint, watching the match, or gathering with mates, The Cocked Hat delivers every time. Highly recommend! Thanks again Ellie!

Bank holiday Monday 26th May 25. Cracking pint of Level Head IPA. Had the Sirloin Steak, medium rare. It was over cooked but TBF they did discount the bill by £7.52 so that was appreciated. All in all for the price the meals represented extremely good value. Well worth a visit.

Good location for Coventry, very close to local services. Slight minus points would be my room (number 10) the bathroom is a little tiered and the sink didn't hold water. But the room was a decent size and was nice and warm. The second minus point for me is there a 6 lane flyover now going over the top of the hotel. This doesn't stop, but to be fair this is not the fault of the hotel.
