About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about the Cock & Pheasant – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper gem in Macclesfield, with its history dating back to the 18th century and that welcoming country feel. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is where it really shines; folks are raving about the homemade dishes, like those tasty Sunday dinners with perfectly cooked roasts and all the trimmings, not to mention the variety that includes gluten-free and vegan choices, so there's something for everyone. The staff seem to go above and beyond, making sure you're looked after, which adds to the homely atmosphere, whether you're enjoying a drink in the garden or warming up by the fire. On the downside, it can get a bit packed on busier days, so planning ahead is a good idea, and if you're not keen on traditional pubs, it might not be your cup of tea. All in all, it's a solid spot for a relaxed meal or a catch-up, and with such high praise from visitors, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just remember to appreciate the little things that make it special.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty homemade meals with generous portions that really hit the spot, especially their Sunday roasts which are packed with flavour and great value at around £18.
  • It's got that lovely country pub charm with beautiful gardens and cosy log fires, perfect for a relaxing catch-up with mates or family.
  • Staff are brilliant; they're super friendly and attentive, making everyone feel right at home, as mentioned in the rave reviews.
  • They cater to all sorts with options like gluten-free and vegan menus, plus it's dog-friendly, which is a real bonus for us dog lovers.
  • Plenty of parking and a welcoming atmosphere make it easy to pop in, whether you're just after a pint or a full meal.
Cons
  • It might feel a tad traditional for those after something more modern or trendy, as it's got that classic old-school pub vibe.
  • With its popularity, it can get quite busy, especially on weekends, so you might need to book a table in advance to avoid waiting around.
  • The location's a bit out in Bollington, which is lovely but could mean it's not the most convenient if you're not nearby.

Nice quaint country type pub with delicious homemade food. It was my second visit and I was glad to return. Lovely sunday dinner at a decent price point - £17.95 for a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Roast potatoes and veg had great flavours and accompanied with a sizeable Yorkshire pudding. Soft drinks on the expensive side but I guess that is like most places these days! We ate in the bar area which offers a relaxed setting. Staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful. Ample parking available.

Excellent meal, been twice in 3 days as the food was so good. Large portions, something for everyone. Nice varied menu especially for gluten free. Love the idea of mini desert with coffee too! Special thanks to the servers (Miguel, Laila and Tyler) who couldn't do enough for us!

Excellent Sunday lunch today. Served by Tyler who was lovely. The food was the best roast we’ve had in a long time - best in town I’d say. The lamb was cooked to perfection (we got the last 3) & chocolate orange dome dessert was fantastic. Great food, beautifully presented & top quality- thank you. The ‘roast’ photo is before the fresh veg arrived, the stuffing, pigs in blankets, cauli cheese & lashings of tasty gravy.

One of the best pub meals we have had in a long time 😊 Arrived without appointment for three people and were immediately seated. We ordered from the 2 for £15.50 menu. Leek and potato soup and calamari for starters, gammon, steak ciabata and lamb shepherds pie for mains. The meals were a nice portion, piping hot, very tasty and flavoursome. Evidence can be seen by the cleared plates. (Proof of the pudding is in the eating) Nice atmosphere, several different seating areas, well timed service by two great staff members. Would highly recommend.
