About This Pub

Ah, the Brocklehurst Arms – it's one of those reliable neighbourhood pubs that you end up returning to for its straightforward charm. I have to say, what really stands out is how it's geared up for sports fans; with all the live action from Sky and TNT Sports, it's brilliant for gathering with friends to watch the Women's Euros or the Lions tour without missing a beat. The staff are an absolute delight, always greeting you with a smile and making quiz nights feel like a proper community event. Plus, it's incredibly family-oriented, with a decent kids' menu and play area that takes the stress out of dining with the family, and the prices are just right for a casual night out – those midweek deals are a real winner. On the flip side, though, the food's not always up to scratch; I've heard a few tales of meals that were a bit greasy or just didn't hit the spot, like fish and chips that tasted off or portions that left you wanting more. And while it's generally affordable, some drinks prices, especially the alcohol-free ones, can seem a bit over the top. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a laid-back spot for a pint and a chat, but you might want to keep expectations in check for the grub – pop in for the atmosphere and the sport, and you'll likely have a grand time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's a cracking spot for watching live sports, with Sky Sports and TNT Sports on the screens, making it perfect for catching the big games like the Women's Euros or rugby tours.
  • The staff are always welcoming and friendly, which really makes you feel at home, especially if you're popping in for quiz night or a casual meal.
  • Great value for money with inexpensive prices, and they've got some lovely midweek offers that make it easy on the wallet.
  • Family-friendly vibes with a kids' menu, high chairs, and even a play area, so it's ideal for bringing the little ones along.
  • Plenty of parking and nice facilities like a beer garden and WiFi, which add to the relaxed atmosphere for a good catch-up with mates.
Cons
  • Food quality can be a bit hit or miss; some dishes might not taste as fresh as you'd hope, like overly oily fish and chips that left a few disappointed.
  • Portions are alright, but they don't always wow you, and kids might not finish their meals if it's not quite to their liking.
  • Prices for certain drinks, such as alcohol-free options, feel a tad steep, which might put a dampener on things if you're watching your spend.
  • Service is generally quick, but if it's busy, you might notice it's all a bit straightforward without any extra flair.

Parking great, kids play area great. Food not great, portions ok kids ate off main menu. Food arrived quickly but quality was not great. Daughter left half of her food as she said it did not taste nice,Son left half of the fish of his fish and chips as it tasted very oily "the oil in the fryer needed changing as made the fish taste very bitter" I had the same and mine was the same. Hubby had the mixed grill and said it was the worst mixed grill he has ever had, steak over cooked asked for medium got well done, chicken dry, sausages were of cheap quality the gamon was the best item on plate. I know that its not overly priced for a family meal out but as a family we did not enjoy it at all would have had a better meal going to burger king sorry

The Brock is a cheap and cheerful Greene King pub and our local. It is great value for money. We come every Thursday for quiz night and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. We frequently bring a variety of friends and have never sent a meal back. The food comes out hot and tasty and the portions are generous. They serve a very reasonably priced New Zealand Sauvignon blanc and the beer is good too.

Popped in for a bite to eat on the way home after a long day. A warm welcome on arrival and managed to bag a 10% drinks discount using the App! Found a table easily in the Restaurant end of the pub. Great choice of food with some good midweek offers on as well. Ordered at the bar and food was delivered promptly by our lovely waitress and was absolutely delicious, freshly made and just what we wanted. A great midweek pick me up!

Great for a family meal, managed to get 9 of us sat together. Service was great even though there were lots of us, we all ordered via the app for ease. High chair for the little one and a good children's menu too plenty of parking and a good variety of the main menu. All in all pleasantly surprised.

Whilst I appreciate that they do Estrella Galicia 0.0 on draught — £5.35 is taking the mick for an alcohol free drink — the service was good, and the building is nice — but that price is silly
